شهدت رحلة تابعة لشركة United Airlines لحظات توتر على متنها، بعدما اضطر قائد الطائرة إلى إعلان حالة طوارئ جوية، ما استدعى تغيير مسار الرحلة والهبوط بشكل عاجل في مطار بديل وسط استنفار فرق الطوارئ.
وبحسب تقارير إعلامية، كانت الطائرة في طريقها إلى وجهتها المقررة عندما رصد الطاقم خللاً فنياً أثناء الإقلاع، دفع الطيار إلى اتخاذ قرار فوري بالعودة وإبلاغ برج المراقبة بوجود حالة طارئة تستدعي الهبوط العاجل.
وأفادت شبكة CNN أن قائد الطائرة استخدم نداء الاستغاثة المعروف «ماي داي» بعد الاشتباه بوجود عطل في أحد المحركات، بينما كانت الطائرة (من طراز بوينغ 787) تقل 219 راكباً و11 من أفراد الطاقم على متنها.
وبعد الهبوط مباشرة، انتشرت فرق الإطفاء والإنقاذ في محيط المدرج؛ للتأكد من سلامة الركاب والطائرة، قبل نقلها إلى موقع الفحص الفني لإجراء التقييمات اللازمة.
وأكدت الشركة أن عملية الهبوط تمت دون أي إصابات بين الركاب أو الطاقم، مشيرة إلى أنه تم إلغاء الرحلة لاحقاً وتوفير ترتيبات سفر بديلة للمسافرين، في وقت لا تزال فيه التحقيقات جارية لتحديد سبب الخلل الفني الذي أدى إلى إعلان حالة الطوارئ.

According to media reports, the aircraft was en route to its scheduled destination when the crew detected a technical malfunction during takeoff, prompting the pilot to make an immediate decision to return and notify the control tower of an emergency situation requiring urgent landing.
CNN reported that the pilot used the well-known distress call "Mayday" after suspecting a malfunction in one of the engines, while the aircraft (a Boeing 787) was carrying 219 passengers and 11 crew members on board.
Immediately after landing, firefighting and rescue teams spread around the runway to ensure the safety of the passengers and the aircraft before moving it to a technical inspection site for necessary evaluations.
The company confirmed that the landing was completed without any injuries among the passengers or crew, noting that the flight was later canceled and alternative travel arrangements were provided for the travelers, while investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the technical malfunction that led to the emergency declaration.
