شهد مطار دنفر الدولي في الولايات المتحدة حادثاً مأساوياً بعدما صدمت طائرة ركاب تابعة لشركة «فرونتير إيرلاينز» شخصاً على مدرج الإقلاع، ما أدى إلى وفاته وإلغاء الرحلة المتجهة إلى لوس أنجلوس، وفق بيان رسمي صدر أمس (السبت).
وبحسب إدارة المطار، فإن الحادث وقع في وقت متأخر من مساء الجمعة، عندما أبلغ طاقم الطائرة عن اصطدام بشخص أثناء تحركها للإقلاع. وكشفت التحقيقات الأولية أن الضحية تمكن من تجاوز السياج الأمني المحيط بالمطار قبل دقائق من الحادث، ثم دخل إلى منطقة المدارج حيث اصطدمت به الطائرة بعد نحو دقيقتين فقط.
وأشار المطار إلى أن الشخص لم يكن من العاملين فيه، فيما لم تُكشف هويته حتى الآن.
وأدى الاصطدام إلى اندلاع حريق محدود في أحد محركات الطائرة من طراز «إيرباص A321»، تبعه تصاعد دخان داخل المقصورة، ما استدعى تنفيذ عملية إخلاء عاجلة للركاب. وكانت الطائرة تقل 224 مسافراً إضافة إلى سبعة من أفراد الطاقم، وتم إخراجهم جميعاً بسلام.
وأسفر الحادث عن إصابة 12 شخصاً بجروح طفيفة، نُقل خمسة منهم إلى مستشفيات محلية لتلقي العلاج، بينما فتحت شركة «فرونتير إيرلاينز» تحقيقاً بالتنسيق مع سلطات المطار وهيئات السلامة المختصة لمعرفة ملابسات الواقعة.
Denver International Airport in the United States witnessed a tragic incident after a passenger plane belonging to Frontier Airlines struck a person on the runway, resulting in their death and the cancellation of the flight to Los Angeles, according to an official statement issued yesterday (Saturday).
According to the airport management, the incident occurred late Friday evening when the flight crew reported a collision with a person while the plane was taxiing for takeoff. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim managed to breach the airport's security fence just minutes before the incident and then entered the runway area where they were struck by the aircraft just two minutes later.
The airport indicated that the individual was not an employee, and their identity has not yet been disclosed.
The collision caused a small fire in one of the engines of the Airbus A321, followed by smoke rising inside the cabin, which necessitated an urgent evacuation of the passengers. The aircraft was carrying 224 passengers in addition to seven crew members, all of whom were safely evacuated.
The incident resulted in 12 people sustaining minor injuries, five of whom were transported to local hospitals for treatment, while Frontier Airlines has launched an investigation in coordination with airport authorities and relevant safety agencies to determine the circumstances of the incident.
