أعلن رئيس الهيئة العامة للطيران الكويتي حمود المبارك إعادة فتح الأجواء في مطار الكويت الدولي اعتبارًا من يوم الخميس، بعد تعليق مؤقت للحركة الجوية منذ 28 فبراير الماضي نتيجة التطورات في المنطقة.
وأوضح المبارك أن القرار جاء بالتنسيق مع الجهات المحلية والدولية المختصة، لضمان استئناف التشغيل وفق معايير السلامة والأمن. وأشار إلى أن العودة ستكون تدريجية ضمن خطة مرحلية، تمهيدًا للوصول إلى التشغيل الكامل خلال الفترة القادمة.
وبيّن أن فرق الطيران المدني أنهت تقييم الأضرار التي لحقت ببعض مرافق المطار، وبدأت أعمال الصيانة والإصلاح للأجهزة والبنية التحتية لضمان الجاهزية التشغيلية.
وأضاف أن المرحلة الأولى من التشغيل ستقتصر على محطات محددة وفق أولويات تشغيلية، مع استمرار التقييم قبل التوسع في المراحل التالية. كما أوضح أن استئناف الرحلات تدريجيًا سيبدأ يوم الأحد القادم عبر مبنيي الركاب (T4) و(T5) إلى وجهات محددة.
وفي ختام تصريحه، أعرب المبارك عن شكره وتقديره للسعودية على ما قدمته من دعم وتعاون، مؤكدًا أن ذلك يعكس متانة العلاقات بين البلدين.
The Chairman of the Kuwait Civil Aviation Authority, Hamoud Al-Mubarak, announced the reopening of airspace at Kuwait International Airport starting Thursday, following a temporary suspension of air traffic since February 28 due to developments in the region.
Al-Mubarak explained that the decision was made in coordination with relevant local and international authorities to ensure the resumption of operations in accordance with safety and security standards. He indicated that the return will be gradual as part of a phased plan, paving the way for full operations in the upcoming period.
He stated that civil aviation teams have completed the assessment of the damage to some airport facilities and have begun maintenance and repair work on equipment and infrastructure to ensure operational readiness.
He added that the first phase of operations will be limited to specific terminals based on operational priorities, with ongoing assessments before expanding in subsequent phases. He also clarified that the gradual resumption of flights will begin next Sunday through the passenger terminals (T4) and (T5) to specific destinations.
In conclusion, Al-Mubarak expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Saudi Arabia for the support and cooperation it has provided, emphasizing that this reflects the strength of the relations between the two countries.
