في حادثة أمنية أثارت التوتر على متن رحلة داخلية أمريكية، اضطرت طائرة تابعة لشركة ساوث ويست إيرلاينز، إلى الهبوط الاضطراري في مطار هارتسفيلد-جاكسون الدولي في أتلانتا، مساء الجمعة، بعد تقارير عن «مسألة أمنية محتملة» على متنها.
وكانت الرحلة رقم 2094 من طراز Boeing 737 MAX 8 في طريقها من مطار ناشفيل الدولي إلى فورت لودرديل في فلوريدا، إذ غادرت ناشفيل نحو الساعة 7:15 مساءً بالتوقيت المحلي، ثم تم تحويل مسارها فجأة، وهبطت بسلام في أتلانتا نحو الساعة 9:06 مساءً.
وأكدت شركة ساوث ويست في بيان رسمي أن التحويل تم «بحذر شديد» بسبب «مسألة أمنية محتملة»، وبعد الهبوط، اقتحمت قوات الشرطة في أتلانتا الطائرة بدعم من السلطات الفيدرالية بما في ذلك مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي FBI.
وانتشرت مقاطع فيديو واسعة على منصات التواصل الاجتماعي توثق لحظة اقتحام قوات الشرطة للطائرة، إذ أُمر الركاب بوضع رؤوسهم للأسفل ورفع أيديهم، ثم اقتياد راكب واحد مكبل اليدين خارج الطائرة تحت حراسة مشددة من ضباط مسلحين.
ولم يُبلغ عن إصابات أو انفجارات أو أسلحة، وبعد تفتيش شامل بما في ذلك استخدام كلاب بوليسية لتفتيش الأمتعة، أعلنت السلطات عدم وجود تهديد حقيقي أو مواد خطرة.
وتم نقل الركاب إلى طائرة أخرى، وأكملت الرحلة إلى فورت لودرديل في الساعة 3:20 صباحاً يوم السبت، إذ استغرقت العملية الأرضية نحو 4 ساعات.
ويجري الـFBI التحقيق في الحادثة، ولم يُكشف بعد طبيعة التهديد المزعوم بدقة، إلا أن بعض التقارير الأولية تحدثت عن «تهديد قنبلة» ومراقبة رسائل مشبوهة من راكب لآخر، لكن لم يتم تأكيدها رسمياً.
In a security incident that sparked tension on a domestic American flight, a Southwest Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta on Friday evening, following reports of a "potential security issue" on board.
Flight 2094, a Boeing 737 MAX 8, was en route from Nashville International Airport to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, having departed Nashville around 7:15 PM local time, when its course was suddenly diverted, landing safely in Atlanta around 9:06 PM.
Southwest confirmed in an official statement that the diversion was made "with extreme caution" due to a "potential security issue," and after landing, Atlanta police stormed the plane with support from federal authorities, including the FBI.
Wide-ranging videos circulated on social media documenting the moment police stormed the aircraft, as passengers were ordered to put their heads down and raise their hands, followed by the removal of one handcuffed passenger from the plane under heavy guard by armed officers.
No injuries, explosions, or weapons were reported, and after a thorough search, including the use of police dogs to inspect luggage, authorities announced that there was no real threat or hazardous materials.
Passengers were transferred to another plane, and the flight continued to Fort Lauderdale at 3:20 AM on Saturday, with the ground operation taking about 4 hours.
The FBI is investigating the incident, and the exact nature of the alleged threat has not yet been disclosed, although some initial reports mentioned a "bomb threat" and the monitoring of suspicious messages between passengers, which have not been officially confirmed.
