أعلن المعهد القومي للبحوث الفلكية والجيوفيزيقية في مصر، عن رصد هزة أرضية وقعت مساء أمس (الإثنين)، في تمام الـ8:49 مساءً بالتوقيت المحلي.
وأوضح المعهد أن الهزة بلغت قوتها 5.8 درجة على مقياس ريختر، وتم تحديد موقعها على بعد نحو 867 كيلومتراً شمال مدينة مرسى مطروح الساحلية، في منطقة بحرية بعيدة عن المناطق السكنية.
ووفقاً لبيان رسمي صادر عن المعهد، سجلت محطات الشبكة القومية لرصد الزلازل، التي تضم أكثر من 20 محطة متقدمة موزعة على أنحاء الجمهورية، تفاصيل الهزة بدقة عالية.
وأكد رئيس المعهد القومي للبحوث الفلكية والجيوفيزيقية الدكتور طه راجح، في تصريحات صحفية، أن «الهزة وقعت في منطقة جيولوجية نشطة نسبياً في البحر المتوسط، ولم يشعر بها سكان المناطق المصرية بسبب بعد الموقع الجغرافي عن البر الرئيسي، ولا توجد أي مخاوف فورية من تكرار أو تصعيد، ونتابع النشاط الزلزالي بشكل مستمر».
وتأتي هذه الهزة في سياق سلسلة من النشاطات الزلزالية المتوسطة التي تشهدها المنطقة البحرية شمال غرب مصر خلال السنوات الأخيرة، التي ترتبط غالباً بحركة الصفائح التكتونية في حوض البحر المتوسط.
وأوضح خبراء في المعهد أن قوة الهزة على مقياس ريختر تجعلها متوسطة الشدة، وأن البعد الكبير عن السواحل يقلل من أي مخاطر محتملة مثل تسونامي أو اهتزازات أرضية محلية.
كما أكدت التقارير الأولية عدم تسجيل أي إصابات أو أضرار في المنشآت البحرية أو السياحية بمرسى مطروح، ولم يشعر السكان بأي حركة غير طبيعية.
The National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research in Egypt announced the detection of an earthquake that occurred last night (Monday) at exactly 8:49 PM local time.
The institute clarified that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.8 on the Richter scale, and its location was determined to be approximately 867 kilometers north of the coastal city of Marsa Matrouh, in a marine area far from residential zones.
According to an official statement issued by the institute, the national seismic monitoring network, which includes more than 20 advanced stations distributed across the republic, recorded the details of the earthquake with high accuracy.
Dr. Taha Rajeh, the head of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research, confirmed in press statements that "the earthquake occurred in a relatively active geological area in the Mediterranean Sea, and the residents of the Egyptian areas did not feel it due to the geographical distance from the mainland. There are no immediate concerns about recurrence or escalation, and we are continuously monitoring seismic activity."
This earthquake comes in the context of a series of moderate seismic activities that the marine area northwest of Egypt has witnessed in recent years, which are often related to the movement of tectonic plates in the Mediterranean basin.
Experts at the institute explained that the strength of the earthquake on the Richter scale categorizes it as moderate, and the significant distance from the coasts reduces any potential risks such as tsunamis or local ground vibrations.
Initial reports also confirmed that no injuries or damage were recorded in marine or tourist facilities in Marsa Matrouh, and residents did not feel any unusual movements.
