أعلنت البحرية الأمريكية في المحيط الهادي أن مروحية وطائرة مقاتلة تحطمتا أمس خلال عمليات روتينية منفصلة فوق بحر الصين الجنوبي، وتم إنقاذ جميع أفراد الطاقم بسلام.
وحسب شبكة سي إن إن الأمريكية اليوم، بدأت البحرية الأمريكية تحقيقا في أسباب الحادثتين اللتين وقعتا فوق ما اعتبرته مياه استراتيجية.
وأفادت البحرية الأمريكية بأن مروحية من طراز MH-60R Seahawk سقطت «أثناء قيامها بعمليات روتينية من حاملة الطائرات يو إس إس نيميتز»، وأن فرق البحث والإنقاذ أنقذت ثلاثة من أفراد الطاقم.
وأضافت أنه بعد نحو 30 دقيقة، تحطمت مقاتلة من طراز F/A-18F سوبر هورنت أثناء قيامها بعمليات روتينية من قاعدة نيميتز.
وأشارت البحرية الأمريكية إلى أن فردَي الطاقم قفزا بالمظلة وتم انتشالهما بسلام.
وكانت البحرية الأمريكية قد فقدت طائرتين أخريين من طراز /F/A-18/ في البحر الأحمر خلال فصل الربيع الماضي، حيث سقطت إحداهما في البحر من حاملة طائرات، بينما كانت الأخرى تعاني على ما يبدو من مشكلة في نظام الهبوط.
The U.S. Navy in the Pacific announced that a helicopter and a fighter jet crashed yesterday during separate routine operations over the South China Sea, and all crew members were rescued safely.
According to CNN today, the U.S. Navy has launched an investigation into the causes of the two incidents that occurred over what it considered strategic waters.
The U.S. Navy reported that an MH-60R Seahawk helicopter fell "while conducting routine operations from the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz," and that search and rescue teams saved three crew members.
It added that about 30 minutes later, an F/A-18F Super Hornet fighter jet crashed while conducting routine operations from the Nimitz base.
The U.S. Navy noted that two crew members parachuted out and were retrieved safely.
The U.S. Navy had lost two other F/A-18 aircraft in the Red Sea last spring, with one crashing into the sea from an aircraft carrier, while the other appeared to have a problem with its landing system.
