حصد الطبيب السعودي أحمد بن حمود يحيى الغامدي، استشاري الأمراض الصدرية والعناية المركزة في جدة، براءة اختراع لتطويره إبرة مبتكرة لاستخراج الهواء من تجويف الصدر (الهواء المتجمع بين الرئة وجدار الصدر في حالات الاسترواح الهوائي)، بطريقةٍ أسرع وأسهل وأكثر أماناً وفعالية، تمثل إضافة نوعية للابتكارات الطبية السعودية.
ويتميّز الابتكار الجديد بإمكانية استخدامه دون الحاجة إلى وجود جراحٍ أو أدواتٍ جراحية متقدمة، إذ يمكن لأي طبيبٍ أو مسعفٍ أو ممرضٍ مدرَّب استخدام الإبرة بسهولةٍ ويسر، ما يسهم في إنقاذ حياة المرضى بشكلٍ عاجل، عند التعرض لمثل هذه الحالات الحرجة.
ومنحت الهيئة السعودية للملكية الفكرية، برئاسة الدكتور عبدالعزيز السويلم، الدكتور الغامدي براءة الاختراع بموجب أحكام نظام براءات الاختراع والتصميمات التخطيطية للدارات المتكاملة والأصناف النباتية والنماذج الصناعية، وبناء على المرسوم الملكي ذي العلاقة، عن الاختراع المسمى «إبرة تصريف الهواء العلاجية لاسترواح الصدر».
وعدّ الغامدي، عبر «عكاظ»، هذا الإنجاز هدية للوطن وقيادته، مؤكداً أن الدعم الكبير للقطاع الصحي والعلمي أسهم في تمكين أبناء الوطن من تحقيق إنجازات عالمية مشرفة في مختلف التخصصات.
Saudi doctor Ahmed bin Hamoud Yahya Al-Ghamdi, a consultant in pulmonary diseases and intensive care in Jeddah, has obtained a patent for developing an innovative needle to extract air from the chest cavity (the air accumulated between the lung and the chest wall in cases of pneumothorax), in a way that is faster, easier, safer, and more effective, representing a qualitative addition to Saudi medical innovations.
The new innovation is characterized by its ability to be used without the need for a surgeon or advanced surgical tools, as any trained doctor, paramedic, or nurse can easily and conveniently use the needle, contributing to saving patients' lives urgently when faced with such critical situations.
The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, headed by Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Suwailem, granted Dr. Al-Ghamdi the patent under the provisions of the Patent Law and the layout designs of integrated circuits, plant varieties, and industrial models, based on the relevant royal decree, for the invention titled "Therapeutic Air Drainage Needle for Pneumothorax."
Al-Ghamdi considered this achievement, through "Okaz," a gift to the homeland and its leadership, affirming that the significant support for the health and scientific sectors has contributed to enabling the nation's sons to achieve honorable global accomplishments in various specialties.
