أثار دب أسود حالة من الذعر في بلدة ريفية شمال ولاية نيوجيرسي الأمريكية، بعد أن دخل متجرا من سلسلة «دولار جنرال» وبدأ يتجول ببطء في الداخل.
لكن ما حدث كان أسوأ من مجرد زيارة عابرة. فبحسب شرطة بلدة فيرنون تاونشيب، كان الدب قد قام بالفعل بعضّ امرأة تبلغ من العمر 90 عاما داخل المتجر.
لاحقا، غادر الدب المتجر، لكنه لم ينجُ. إذ أطلقت الشرطة النار عليه بعد أن اعتبرته خطرا على السلامة العامة.
شوهد الدب على مدى ساعات يتجول في مواقف السيارات قرب الطريق السريع، قبل أن يدخل المتجر.
وقال صاحب مطعم مجاور إن الشرطة استخدمت طلقات مطاطية لإبعاده، لكنها لم تؤثر عليه: «كان في حالة ذهول، يتجول بلا هدف».
A black bear caused a panic in a rural town in northern New Jersey, USA, after it entered a Dollar General store and began to wander slowly inside.
But what happened was worse than just a fleeting visit. According to the Vernon Township police, the bear had actually bitten a 90-year-old woman inside the store.
Later, the bear left the store, but it did not survive. The police shot it after deeming it a threat to public safety.
The bear was seen wandering for hours in the parking lots near the highway before entering the store.
A nearby restaurant owner said that the police used rubber bullets to drive it away, but they had no effect: “It was in a state of shock, wandering aimlessly.”
