وبينت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية بأن مركز الزلزال كان على عمق 10 كيلومترات.
وأفاد النظام الأمريكي للتحذير من أمواج المد العاتية (تسونامي) بإصدار تحذير من هذه الأمواج بعد الزلزال.
يشار إلى أن شبه جزيرة كامتشاتكا تعرضت خلال العام الحالي لخمس هزات أرضية قوية، كان أقواها زلزال بلغت شدته 7.4 درجة في 20 يوليو 2025، تسبب في موجات تسونامي بلغ ارتفاعها أربعة أمتار عبر المحيط الهادئ. وتقع شبه جزيرة «كامتشاتكا» فوق «حزام النار» في المحيط الهادئ، وهي عبارة عن منطقة تمتد على شكل قوس عريض وتشهد نشاطا زلزاليا وبركانيا.
