لقي ثلاثة ضباط شرطة مصرعهم وأصيب اثنان آخران بجروح خطيرة أمس (الأربعاء) أثناء محاولتهم تنفيذ مذكرة قضائية في منطقة ريفية من يورك كاونتي بولاية بنسلفانيا، وفق ما أعلنته الشرطة الحكومية.
وأكد قائد شرطة ولاية بنسلفانيا الكولونيل كريستوفر باريس أن الضابطين المصابين حالتهما حرجة لكنها مستقرة، بينما قُتل مطلق النار على يد الشرطة. ووقعت الحادثة على طريق ريفي هادئ على بُعد أميال قليلة من بلدة قديمة تحوي مطحنة.

وصل حاكم بنسلفانيا جوش شابيرو إلى موقع الحادثة بعد ساعات من وقوعها، حيث التقى بعائلات الضباط القتلى وأكد الدعم الذي تقدمه الدولة لعائلات رجال الشرطة. وقال الحاكم في مؤتمر صحفي: «إن ما تقوم به هذه العائلات استثنائي؛ فهم يقفون إلى جانب من يرتدي الزي ويواجه الخطر، ويصلّون طوال اليوم ليعود إلى المنزل سالمًا».
كما أبدت المدعية العامة الأمريكية السابقة بام بوندي دعمها وأسفها على هذه الواقعة، ووصفت العنف بأنه «آفة على مجتمعنا».
