أصدرت محكمة في العاصمة الزامبية لوساكا حكماً يقضي بسجن رجلين لمدة عامين مع الأشغال الشاقة، بعد إدانتهما بمحاولة استخدام السحر لإيذاء الرئيس هاكايندي هيشيليما.
المتهمان هما المواطن الموزمبيقي جاستن مابوليسي كاندوندي وزعيم محلي لإحدى القرى يدعى ليونارد فيري، وقد أُلقي القبض عليهما في ديسمبر الماضي وبحوزتهما تعويذات غريبة من بينها حرباء حية.
دوافع خطيرة
أكدت الشرطة الزامبية أن الهدف من هذه التعويذات كان إيذاء الرئيس الزامبي، فيما شدد القاضي فاين مايامبو على أن «الدافع وراء الجريمة هو قتل رئيس الدولة»، مضيفاً أن المدانين «لم يكونا خصمين للرئيس فقط، بل لكل الشعب الزامبي».

A court in the Zambian capital Lusaka has sentenced two men to two years in prison with hard labor after they were convicted of attempting to use witchcraft to harm President Hakainde Hichilema.
The defendants are Mozambican citizen Justin Mapulisi Kandondi and a local village leader named Leonard Ferry. They were arrested last December while in possession of strange charms, including a live chameleon.

Zambian police confirmed that the purpose of these charms was to harm the Zambian president, while Judge Fine Mayambu emphasized that "the motive behind the crime was to kill the head of state," adding that the convicted "were not only adversaries of the president but of the entire Zambian people."
Political Threads
The Zambian prosecution revealed that the defendants received funding from the brother of opposition MP Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda, who is himself facing trial on charges of theft, attempted murder, and escape from prison.
