جهود الأمن لمعرفة القاتل

Footage circulated by the media showed a perpetrator dressed in black lying on the roof of a building directly across from the spot where Kirk fell, then suddenly standing up and fleeing across the roof amid panic among the attendees.

Kirk's wife, Erika Franzvi, and their young children (a 3-year-old girl and a 16-month-old baby) were in the square during the incident, but they were unharmed, according to BBC reports.
Security efforts to identify the killer
Two men were quickly arrested at the scene but were later released, while the FBI continued to work with local police to track down the killer who managed to escape from the scene.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox indicated that authorities would pursue the killer, warning that he could face the death penalty. He stated, "To whoever did this: We will find you, we will prosecute you, and we will hold you accountable to the fullest extent of the law."
