أغلقت الشرطة المصرية أكبر شبكة غير قانونية في العالم لبث العديد من الأحداث الرياضية. وقالت منظمة تحالف الإبداع والترفيه، إنها تعاونت مع الشرطة في مصر لإغلاق المنصة التي شهدت أكثر من 1.6 مليار زيارة في العام الماضي، إذ بثت منافسات الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز لكرة القدم وسباقات الفورمولا 1 ومباريات دوري البيسبول الرئيسي.
من جانبها ذكرت صحيفة «ذا أثلتيك»، أن الشرطة ألقت القبض على رجلين في مدينة الشيخ زايد، بالقرب من العاصمة المصرية القاهرة، للاشتباه في انتهاكهما حقوق النشر، إلى جانب ضبط أجهزة كمبيوتر محمولة وهواتف ذكية يشتبه في استخدامها لتشغيل الشبكة بالإضافة إلى مبالغ نقدية وبطاقات ائتمان.
كما عثرت الشرطة على روابط مع جهة خارجية يُزعم أنها استُخدمت لغسل 4.9 مليون جنيه إسترليني من عائدات الإعلانات منذ عام 2010، بالإضافة إلى 150 ألف جنيه إسترليني من العملات المشفرة.
ويعد البث الرياضي تجارة كبيرة، إذ تجاوزت القيمة الإجمالية لحقوق الإعلام في جميع أنحاء العالم 60 مليار دولار (44 مليار جنيه إسترليني) في العام الماضي.
The Egyptian police have shut down the largest illegal network in the world for broadcasting various sporting events. The Creative and Entertainment Alliance stated that it collaborated with the police in Egypt to close the platform, which had over 1.6 billion visits last year, as it broadcast Premier League football matches, Formula 1 races, and Major League Baseball games.
For its part, the newspaper "The Athletic" reported that the police arrested two men in Sheikh Zayed City, near the Egyptian capital Cairo, on suspicion of violating copyright laws, along with seizing laptops and smartphones believed to have been used to operate the network, in addition to cash amounts and credit cards.
The police also found links to an external entity allegedly used to launder £4.9 million from advertising revenues since 2010, as well as £150,000 in cryptocurrencies.
Sports broadcasting is a big business, with the total value of media rights worldwide exceeding $60 billion (£44 billion) last year.
