أعلن المدير العام لهيئة إدارة الكوارث الطبيعية الباكستانية في إقليم البنجاب عرفان علي كاثيا ارتفاع حصيلة ضحايا الفيضانات التي يشهدها الإقليم منذ الأسبوع الماضي، لتصل إلى 46 قتيلاً و3.5 ملايين متضرر.
وأوضح في تصريح صحفي، اليوم، أنه تم نقل 30 شخصاً من المتضررين إلى مخيمات إغاثية، إذ تضررت حتى الآن 3,944 قرية بالكامل من الفيضانات، وتم إنقاذ أكثر من مليون و496 شخصاً.
وحذّر عرفان علي من إمكانية ارتفاع مُحصلة الخسائر نظراً لاستمرار تدفق المياه بقوة في نهر «تشناب» إلى مناطق أخرى في إقليم البنجاب، ومن المرتقب أن تدخل هذه المياه إلى إقليم السند ليلة 6 و7 سبتمبر الجاري، مشيراً إلى أن فرق الإغاثة تواصل جهودها للتعامل مع الوضع.
The Director General of the Pakistan Natural Disaster Management Authority in the Punjab province, Irfan Ali Kathia, announced an increase in the death toll from the floods that have been affecting the region since last week, reaching 46 fatalities and 3.5 million affected individuals.
He clarified in a press statement today that 30 individuals from the affected population have been relocated to relief camps, as 3,944 villages have been completely devastated by the floods so far, and more than 1,496 people have been rescued.
Irfan Ali warned of the possibility of an increase in the toll of losses due to the continued strong flow of water in the "Chenab" River into other areas of Punjab province, noting that this water is expected to enter Sindh province on the night of September 6 and 7. He pointed out that relief teams are continuing their efforts to address the situation.
