لقي شخص مصرعه وأُصيب ثلاثة آخرون بجروح أمس (الأحد) جراء تصادم طائرتين صغيرتين في الجو أثناء محاولتهما الهبوط في مطار بلدية فورت مورغان بولاية كولورادو الأمريكية، وفقاً لما أعلنته إدارة الطيران الفيدرالية (FAA).
وقعت الحادثة نحو الساعة 10:44 صباحاً بالتوقيت المحلي، عندما كانت طائرتان – من طراز Cessna 172 وExtra EA300 – تقتربان من مدرج المطار، قبل أن تصطدما في الجو وتسقط إحداهما وتحترق فوراً، بحسب مكتب شريف مقاطعة مورغان.
وأفادت السلطات بأن الطائرة الأولى كانت في مرحلة الهبوط النهائي حين اصطدمت بها الثانية، وكان على متن كل منهما شخصان.
وهرع رجال الشرطة والإطفاء والإسعاف إلى موقع الحادثة، حيث تلقى اثنان من ركاب الطائرة «سيسنا» العلاج في الموقع من إصابات طفيفة، بينما نُقل راكب ثالث من الطائرة الأخرى إلى مستشفى محلي. أما الراكب الرابع فقد فارق الحياة في موقع الحادثة، بحسب مكتب الطب الشرعي في المقاطعة.
وأطلقت كل من إدارة الطيران الفيدرالية (FAA) والمجلس الوطني لسلامة النقل (NTSB) تحقيقًا رسميًا لتحديد ملابسات الحادثة وأسبابها، فيما لم تُكشف بعد هويات الضحايا انتظاراً لاستكمال التحقيقات.
وفي بيان رسمي، قدم مكتب الشريف تعازيه لأسرة الضحية، وشكر جميع الجهات التي شاركت في الاستجابة، إلى جانب المواطنين الذين حاولوا إخماد الحريق قبل وصول فرق الطوارئ.
One person was killed and three others were injured yesterday (Sunday) due to a collision between two small planes in the air while attempting to land at the Fort Morgan Municipal Airport in Colorado, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The incident occurred around 10:44 AM local time when two planes – a Cessna 172 and an Extra EA300 – were approaching the airport runway before colliding in the air, causing one of them to fall and catch fire immediately, according to the Morgan County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities reported that the first plane was in its final descent when it was struck by the second, with two people on board each aircraft.
Police, fire, and ambulance crews rushed to the scene, where two passengers from the Cessna received treatment on-site for minor injuries, while a third passenger from the other plane was transported to a local hospital. The fourth passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the county coroner's office.
Both the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched an official investigation to determine the circumstances and causes of the incident, while the identities of the victims have not yet been released pending the completion of the investigations.
In an official statement, the sheriff's office expressed condolences to the victim's family and thanked all the agencies that participated in the response, along with the citizens who attempted to extinguish the fire before emergency teams arrived.
