The curtain has fallen on one of the most embarrassing cases of administrative corruption for official institutions in Tunisia, after the criminal chamber of the primary court issued a deterrent ruling sentencing three employees to 18 years in prison, following their transformation from guardians of the trust into a criminal organization that feeds on judicial seizures.
The roots of the incident trace back to secret investigations that revealed a financial loophole in the preserved trusts, where the research showed that the perpetrators exploited their job powers and direct influence to infiltrate the treasury of seized assets and steal funds confiscated in connection with one of the cases pending before the judiciary.
The court did not hesitate to direct the most serious legal classification against the three defendants, after investigations proved their deliberate intention to "form a gang and establish a network to assault properties and assets using extreme violence and exploiting job influence," leading to strict rulings that put an end to their adventure and affirm the judiciary's determination to protect state properties and justice.
