أعلنت النيابة العامة الفرنسية توقيف رجل وفتى من أصول تونسية في محطة قطارات غار دو ليون بباريس، بعد العثور على مجوهرات وساعات فاخرة تقدر قيمتها بنحو 10 ملايين يورو (11.7 مليون دولار) مخبأة بطرق مبتكرة، أبرزها وضعها في جوارب وملابس داخلية.
ووفقاً لصحيفة ذا ناشيونال نيوز، فقد جاءت عملية التوقيف خلال تفتيش روتيني للشرطة، بعد وصول الإثنين من مدينة ليون. وشملت المضبوطات عقداً بقيمة 5 ملايين يورو، وأقراطاَ بمليوني يورو، إضافة إلى خاتم بقيمة مليون يورو وساعة رولكس، كما تم العثور على آلة قطع في حقيبة سفر أحدهما.
وأفادت النيابة أن القضية أُحيلت إلى وحدة الجرائم الخطيرة للتحقيق في احتمال أن يكون الموقوفان يخفيان مقتنيات من عمليات سرقة. ومن المقرر أن يبدأ التحقيق القضائي اليوم (الإثنين).
وتأتي هذه الحادثة بعد ثلاثة أشهر من انتهاء محاكمة واحدة من أبرز سرقات المجوهرات في فرنسا، التي استهدفت النجمة الأمريكية كيم كارداشيان عام 2016، إذ سُلبت مجوهرات بقيمة 6 ملايين دولار من غرفتها في فندق باريسي، قبل أن تُعلن مسامحتها لأحد المجرمين خلال جلسة استماع مؤثرة. كما شهدت فرنسا سرقات مماثلة استهدفت سائحات بريطانيات في سان تروبيه، شملت حقائب بيركين ومجوهرات ونقوداً بقيمة مليون يورو.
The French public prosecutor announced the arrest of a man and a boy of Tunisian descent at the Gare de Lyon train station in Paris, after discovering luxury jewelry and watches valued at around 10 million euros (11.7 million dollars) hidden in innovative ways, notably placed in socks and underwear.
According to The National News, the arrest occurred during a routine police search after the two arrived from the city of Lyon. The seized items included a necklace worth 5 million euros, earrings worth 2 million euros, in addition to a ring valued at 1 million euros and a Rolex watch. A cutting machine was also found in one of their travel bags.
The prosecutor's office stated that the case has been referred to the serious crimes unit to investigate the possibility that the detainees were hiding items from thefts. The judicial investigation is set to begin today (Monday).
This incident comes three months after the conclusion of the trial of one of the most prominent jewelry thefts in France, which targeted American star Kim Kardashian in 2016, where jewelry worth 6 million dollars was stolen from her room in a Paris hotel, before she announced her forgiveness of one of the criminals during an emotional hearing. France has also witnessed similar thefts targeting British tourists in Saint-Tropez, which included Birkin bags, jewelry, and cash valued at 1 million euros.
