استأنفت السلطات الباكستانية اليوم (الإثنين) عمليات الإنقاذ والإغاثة في شمال غرب البلاد، حيث تسببت الفيضانات المفاجئة في مقتل أكثر من 300 شخص بعد أن أجبرت الأمطار الغزيرة فرق الإنقاذ على تعليق عملياتها لعدة ساعات، وفقاً لتصريح مسؤول حكومي.
بدأت الأمطار الغزيرة يوم الجمعة، مخلفةً دماراً واسعاً في عدة مناطق شمالية، حيث قضى معظم الضحايا في الفيضانات المفاجئة، حسبما أفادت الهيئة الوطنية لإدارة الكوارث.
وفي المناطق الجبلية، تسببت الأمطار في سيول وانهيارات طينية وصخرية جرفت منازل ومباني ومركبات وممتلكات، وكانت منطقة بونير الأكثر تضرراً، حيث سجلت أكثر من 200 حالة وفاة.
وأجبرت الأمطار الغزيرة في المناطق المنكوبة، بما في ذلك بونير، فرق الإنقاذ على إيقاف جهود الإغاثة لعدة ساعات الإثنين، وفقاً لما ذكره المسؤول الحكومي الإقليمي عبيد وزير.
وأضاف: «أولويتنا الآن هي إزالة الحطام من الطرق، وإقامة الجسور، وتقديم الإغاثة للمتضررين».
وأرسلت مواد إغاثة إلى المناطق المنكوبة، حسبما أفاد وزير الإعلام عطاء الله ترار لقناة «جيو نيوز» المحلية.

وتتوقع السلطات استمرار الأمطار الغزيرة في أنحاء باكستان حتى أوائل سبتمبر. وأفادت الهيئة الوطنية لإدارة الكوارث الأحد بأن النظام الجوي الحالي نشط في منطقة باكستان، وقد يتسبب في هطول أمطار غزيرة إلى شديدة الغزارة خلال الـ24 ساعة القادمة.
وأضافت أن الأمطار الغزيرة والفيضانات خلال موسم الرياح الموسمية هذا العام قد أودت بحياة 657 شخصاً في جميع أنحاء باكستان منذ أواخر يونيو.
The Pakistani authorities resumed rescue and relief operations today (Monday) in the northwest of the country, where sudden floods have resulted in the deaths of more than 300 people after heavy rains forced rescue teams to suspend their operations for several hours, according to a government official's statement.
Heavy rains began on Friday, causing widespread destruction in several northern areas, with most of the victims having died in the sudden floods, according to the National Disaster Management Authority.
In the mountainous areas, the rains caused flash floods and landslides that swept away homes, buildings, vehicles, and possessions, with the Buner region being the hardest hit, recording more than 200 fatalities.
The heavy rains in the affected areas, including Buner, forced rescue teams to halt relief efforts for several hours on Monday, according to regional government official Obaid Wazir.
He added, "Our priority now is to clear the debris from the roads, establish bridges, and provide relief to the affected."
Relief materials have been sent to the affected areas, according to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar in an interview with the local channel "Geo News."
These materials include food, medicine, blankets, tents, a generator, and water pumps, according to a statement issued by the Disaster Management Authority.
Buner, located a three-and-a-half-hour drive from the capital Islamabad, experienced a rare cloudburst phenomenon, with more than 100 mm (4 inches) of rain falling in just one hour in a small area, according to officials, who reported over 150 mm of rain in one hour on Friday morning.
Authorities expect heavy rains to continue across Pakistan until early September. The National Disaster Management Authority reported on Sunday that the current weather system is active in the Pakistan region and may cause heavy to very heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.
It added that heavy rains and floods during this year's monsoon season have claimed the lives of 657 people across Pakistan since late June.
