في حادثة مروعة صدمت اليمنيين وهزت الرأي العام المحلي، لقى 4 أشقاء مصرعهم جراء لدغات ثعابين سامة، وسط دعوات مُلحة إلى تعزيز التوعية والوقاية من مثل هذه الحوادث.
ووفق مصادر محلية، كان الأشقاء الأربعة نائمين في فناء منزلهم بمنطقة «عبس» بمحافظة «حجة» عندما تعرضوا فجأة لهجوم من ثعابين سامة، فلم يتمكنوا من التصدي لها؛ ما أدى إلى وفاتهم في وقت قصير للغاية، ولا سيما مع عدم توفر تدخل طبي عاجل.
وقعت في بيئة زراعية تكثر فيها الحشائش الطويلة والمياه الراكدة، وهي عوامل تُعد من البيئات المثالية لاختباء الثعابين وتواجدها، خصوصًا مع دخول موسم تزاوج هذه الزواحف، الذي يشهد نشاطًا ملحوظًا في حركتها؛ ما يزيد احتمالية اقترابها من المناطق السكنية.
وأعرب الأهالي عن صدمتهم إزاء الحادثة، مشيرين إلى أن مثل هذه الحالات، وإن كانت ليست نادرة تمامًا، إلا أن وقوعها ضد أشقاء في ليلة واحدة يُعد كارثة إنسانية لا تُحتمل، داعين الجهات المعنية إلى اتخاذ إجراءات عاجلة لحماية السكان، خصوصا في المناطق الريفية والنائية.
ودعت مصادر صحية المواطنين إلى تجنب النوم في العراء أو بالقرب من الحشائش والأنقاض، مع ضرورة إغلاق الفتحات الصغيرة في المنازل، وإزالة الحشائش من حول المساكن، فضلًا عن أهمية تعليم الأطفال كيفية التصرف عند رؤية ثعبان، وتحذيرهم من محاولة لمسها أو الاقتراب منها.

According to local sources, the four siblings were sleeping in the yard of their home in the "Abs" area of "Hajjah" governorate when they were suddenly attacked by venomous snakes, and they were unable to defend themselves; this led to their deaths in a very short time, especially with the lack of urgent medical intervention.
The incident occurred in an agricultural environment characterized by tall grasses and stagnant water, which are considered ideal conditions for snakes to hide and thrive, particularly with the onset of the mating season for these reptiles, which sees a noticeable increase in their activity; this raises the likelihood of them approaching residential areas.
The local residents expressed their shock regarding the incident, noting that while such cases are not entirely rare, the occurrence of it involving siblings on one night is an unbearable humanitarian disaster, calling on the relevant authorities to take urgent measures to protect the population, especially in rural and remote areas.
Health sources urged citizens to avoid sleeping outdoors or near grasses and debris, emphasizing the need to close small openings in homes and remove grasses around residences, as well as the importance of teaching children how to behave when they see a snake and warning them against attempting to touch or approach it.
