احتجزت سلطات الهجرة في الولايات المتحدة الموسيقي التونسي رامي عثمان رغم إقامته في البلاد منذ عام 2015 وزواجه أخيراً من طبيبة أمريكية، وسط تصاعد في حملات الترحيل.
عثرت السلطات على عثمان أثناء توجهه لشراء مستلزمات من متجر في باسادينا، رغم حمله إيصالاً يثبت تقدمه بطلب للحصول على البطاقة الخضراء بعد زواجه في مارس 2025.
وقالت زوجته الدكتورة وفاء الرشيد، وهي طبيبة تعمل في مستشفى مقاطعة لوس أنجلوس، إنها شاهدت لحظة توقيفه مباشرة عبر تطبيق «فيس تايم»، وأعربت عن صدمتها من تجاهل مسؤولي الهجرة للأوراق التي أبرزها زوجها.
نُقل عثمان بعد اعتقاله إلى مركز احتجاز في وسط لوس أنجلوس، ثم تم نقله إلى مركز احتجاز في ولاية أريزونا. ووفقاً لوزارة الأمن الداخلي، فإن تأشيرة عثمان السياحية انتهت صلاحيتها، لكنها لم تعلّق على رفض أمر ترحيله السابق أو على طلب البطاقة الخضراء المعلّق.
وفي مبادرة لدعم الموسيقي التونسي، تجمع موسيقيون وناشطون أمام مركز الاحتجاز، مؤدين موسيقى عربية وإسبانية كتعبير عن التضامن. ويأمل محامو عثمان في إطلاق سراحه بكفالة، إذ عُقدت جلسة إجرائية لفحص وضعه القانوني، فيما يُنتظر البت في الكفالة يوم غد (الثلاثاء).
The U.S. immigration authorities detained Tunisian musician Rami Othman despite his residency in the country since 2015 and his recent marriage to an American doctor, amid a rise in deportation campaigns.
Authorities found Othman while he was heading to buy supplies from a store in Pasadena, despite carrying a receipt proving he had applied for a green card after his marriage in March 2025.
His wife, Dr. Wafa Al-Rashid, a physician working at the Los Angeles County Hospital, said she witnessed the moment of his arrest live through the "FaceTime" app, expressing her shock at the immigration officials' disregard for the documents her husband presented.
Othman was transferred after his arrest to a detention center in downtown Los Angeles, and then moved to a detention center in Arizona. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Othman's tourist visa has expired, but they did not comment on the previous denial of his deportation order or on the pending green card application.
In a show of support for the Tunisian musician, musicians and activists gathered outside the detention center, performing Arabic and Spanish music as a gesture of solidarity. Othman's lawyers hope to secure his release on bail, as a procedural hearing was held to review his legal status, with a decision on bail expected tomorrow (Tuesday).
