شهدت العاصمة التايلاندية بانكوك، اليوم (الإثنين)، حادث إطلاق نار مأساويا في سوق أور تور كور بمنطقة بانغ سو، أسفر عن مقتل 6 أشخاص، بينهم الجاني الذي أنهى حياته بنفسه، وفقا لتصريح نائب مفوض شرطة العاصمة، شارين غوباتا، لـ«رويترز».
وأفادت الشرطة التايلاندية أن الضحايا الخمسة الذين قتلهم الجاني كانوا حراس أمن في السوق الذي يشتهر ببيع المنتجات الزراعية والأطعمة المحلية.
وأكدت السلطات أن التحقيقات جارية لتحديد هوية الجاني ودوافع الحادث، مشيرة إلى أنه يُصنف حتى الآن كعملية إطلاق نار جماعي.
وأوضح سانونغ سانغماني، مسؤول شرطة في منطقة بانغ سو، أن الحادث لم يسفر عن إصابة أو مقتل أي سائح، وهو أمر بالغ الأهمية بالنظر إلى دور السياحة كمحرك رئيسي لاقتصاد تايلاند، ثاني أكبر اقتصاد في جنوب شرق آسيا، والذي يعاني من تباطؤ النمو.
وتشير مثل هذه الحوادث إلى احتمال تأثير سلبي على معنويات السياح، مما قد يؤثر على القطاع السياحي.
وأظهرت لقطات فيديو نشرتها الشرطة مشتبها يرتدي قبعة بيضاء وحقيبة ظهر على صدره يسير عبر موقف سيارات السوق.
وتُعد حوادث العنف المسلح وامتلاك الأسلحة النارية أمرا شائعا نسبيا في تايلاند، حيث شهدت البلاد في أكتوبر 2023 هجوما مسلحا نفذه مراهق يبلغ من العمر 14 عاما في مركز تسوق فاخر بوسط بانكوك، أسفر عن مقتل شخصين وإصابة خمسة آخرين.
كما شهدت البلاد في عام 2022 هجوما داميا نفذه ضابط شرطة سابق أودى بحياة 36 شخصا، من بينهم 22 طفلا، في حضانة بإقليم شرقي.
The Thai capital, Bangkok, witnessed a tragic shooting incident today (Monday) at the Or Tor Kor market in the Bang Sue area, resulting in the death of 6 people, including the perpetrator who took his own life, according to a statement by the Deputy Commissioner of the Capital Police, Charin Gubata, to Reuters.
The Thai police reported that the five victims killed by the perpetrator were security guards at the market, which is known for selling agricultural products and local foods.
The authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrator and the motives behind the incident, noting that it is currently classified as a mass shooting.
Sanong Sangmani, a police official in the Bang Sue area, clarified that the incident did not result in any injuries or deaths among tourists, which is crucial considering the role of tourism as a major driver of Thailand's economy, the second-largest in Southeast Asia, which is experiencing slow growth.
Such incidents indicate a potential negative impact on tourist morale, which could affect the tourism sector.
Video footage released by the police showed a suspect wearing a white hat and a backpack on his chest walking through the market's parking lot.
Incidents of armed violence and gun ownership are relatively common in Thailand, where the country experienced an armed attack in October 2023 carried out by a 14-year-old teenager at a luxury shopping mall in central Bangkok, resulting in the deaths of two people and injuries to five others.
The country also witnessed a bloody attack in 2022 by a former police officer that claimed the lives of 36 people, including 22 children, at a daycare in the eastern province.
