لقي مدير أمن محافظة الوادي الجديد في جنوب غرب مصر اللواء عصام الدين عبدالله مصرعه أمس (الأحد)، في حادث انقلاب سيارة شرطة على الطريق الصحراوي الغربي قبل محور سمالوط بمحافظة المنيا، جنوب القاهرة، وأسفر الحادث عن إصابة اثنين من أمناء الشرطة المرافقين له بجروح وكسور متفرقة.
وتلقت مديرية أمن المنيا إخطاراً من غرفة عمليات المرور يفيد بوقوع حادث انقلاب سيارة شرطة تابعة لوزارة الداخلية على الطريق الصحراوي الغربي قبل محور سمالوط، وانتقلت قوات الأمن وسيارات الإسعاف على الفور إلى موقع الحادث، حيث تبينت وفاة اللواء عصام الدين عبدالله في الحال، وإصابة اثنين من مرافقيه من أمناء الشرطة.
وتم نقل الجثمان إلى مشرحة مستشفى المنيا العام، بينما أُدخل المصابان إلى العناية المركزة لتلقي العلاج اللازم.
وأثار الحادث حالة من الصدمة والحزن في محافظتي المنيا والوادي الجديد، حيث نعاه عدد من المسؤولين والزملاء، مشيدين بإسهاماته في تعزيز الأمن.
وتُعد الحوادث المرورية على الطرق الصحراوية في مصر من التحديات الكبرى التي تواجه الأمن العام، حيث تتسبب سنوياً في آلاف الوفيات والإصابات، ووفقاً لتقارير الجهاز المركزي للتعبئة العامة والإحصاء، سجلت مصر حوالى 12 ألف حادث مروري في 2024، أدت إلى مقتل أكثر من 5 آلاف شخص وإصابة عشرات الآلاف.
ويعتبر الطريق الصحراوي الغربي، الذي يربط القاهرة بالمحافظات الجنوبية، من أخطر الطرق بسبب السرعة الزائدة، وسوء حالة الطريق في بعض المقاطع، والتجاوزات أثناء القيادة.

The accident resulted in injuries and fractures to two police sergeants accompanying him.
The Minya Security Directorate received a notification from the traffic operations room about the rollover accident of a police car belonging to the Ministry of Interior on the western desert road before the Samalout axis. Security forces and ambulances immediately rushed to the scene, where it was confirmed that Major General Essam El-Din Abdullah had died on the spot, and two of his police escorts were injured.
The body was transferred to the morgue of Minya General Hospital, while the injured were admitted to intensive care for necessary treatment.
The accident has caused shock and sadness in the Minya and New Valley governorates, with several officials and colleagues mourning him and praising his contributions to enhancing security.
Traffic accidents on desert roads in Egypt are among the major challenges facing public safety, causing thousands of deaths and injuries annually. According to reports from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics, Egypt recorded approximately 12,000 traffic accidents in 2024, resulting in the deaths of more than 5,000 people and injuring tens of thousands.
The western desert road, which connects Cairo to the southern governorates, is considered one of the most dangerous roads due to excessive speed, poor road conditions in some sections, and reckless driving.
