اندلع حريق في المبنى التجاري في مدينة الكوت شمال العراق وأدى إلى مقتل 77 شخصاً.
وأمر رئيس الوزراء محمد شياع السوداني وزير الداخلية بالتواجد الميداني في موقع حادثة الحريق المؤسف والتحقيق الفوري في الأسباب والظروف المحيطة، وإجراء تحقيق فني دقيق لكشف أوجه التقصير، واتخاذ كل ما يلزم من إجراءات صارمة لمنع تكرار مثل هذه الحوادث.
وقال بيان لمكتب السوداني: «في إطار متابعة رئيس الوزراء المتواصلة لتداعيات هذا الحادث المؤسف، فقد وجّه بإرسال فريق طبي بكامل الإمكانيات، لدعم جهود إسعاف المصابين وعلاجهم»، معبراً عن «تعازيه العميقة لأسر الضحايا، والتضامن الوجداني معهم، سائلاً المولى عزّ وجلّ أن يلهمهم الصبر والسلوان».
وشكل وزير الداخلية عبد الأمير الشمري لجنة عليا للوقوف على الأسباب الحقيقية التي أدت إلى اندلاع حريق في بناية تجارية بالكوت، فيما أكد عدم التهاون بمحاسبة أي جهة يثبت تقصيرها.
وجاء في بيان لوزارة الداخلية: «بقلوب يعتصرها الألم والحزن، تنعى وزارة الداخلية ضحايا الحريق المروّع الذي اندلع في بناية تجارية مكوّنة من خمسة طوابق وسط محافظة واسط، التي تضم مطعماً وهايبر ماركت، لم يمضِ على افتتاحها سوى 7 أيام».
وأضاف: «لقد أودى هذا الحريق المؤلم بحياة (77) مواطناً بريئاً، غالبيتهم قضوا اختناقاً داخل الحمامات نتيجة تصاعد كثيف للدخان، وبينهم (14) جثة متفحمه غير معلومة في حادث مؤلم هزّ الوجدان والضمير»، مبيناً أنه «رغم جسامة الموقف، فقد تمكنت فرق الدفاع المدني من إنقاذ أكثر من (45) شخصاً كانوا عالقين داخل المبنى، بجهد بطولي وتفانٍ عالٍ».
وأكد أن «الوزارة لن تتهاون في محاسبة أي جهة يثبت تقصيرها أو مسؤوليتها، التزاماً بالحق والعدالة، وحرصاً على سلامة المواطنين»، لافتاً إلى «إعلان نتائج التحقيقات الفنية الشاملة فور اكتمالها، التزاماً من الوزارة بمبدأ الشفافية الكاملة أمام الرأي العام».
A fire broke out in a commercial building in the city of Al-Kut, northern Iraq, resulting in the death of 77 people.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani ordered the Minister of Interior to be present at the scene of the tragic fire incident and to conduct an immediate investigation into the causes and circumstances surrounding it, as well as to carry out a thorough technical investigation to uncover any shortcomings and to take all necessary strict measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
A statement from al-Sudani's office said: "As part of the Prime Minister's ongoing follow-up to the repercussions of this unfortunate incident, he has directed the dispatch of a fully equipped medical team to support efforts to rescue and treat the injured," expressing his "deep condolences to the families of the victims and emotional solidarity with them, asking the Almighty to grant them patience and solace."
Interior Minister Abdul Amir al-Shammari formed a high-level committee to investigate the real causes that led to the outbreak of the fire in the commercial building in Al-Kut, while confirming that there would be no leniency in holding accountable any party found to be negligent.
The Ministry of Interior stated: "With hearts filled with pain and sorrow, the Ministry of Interior mourns the victims of the horrific fire that broke out in a five-story commercial building in the center of Wasit Governorate, which includes a restaurant and a hypermarket, which had only been opened for 7 days."
It added: "This painful fire claimed the lives of (77) innocent citizens, most of whom died of suffocation inside the bathrooms due to the thick smoke, including (14) charred bodies that were unidentifiable in a tragic incident that shook the conscience and feelings," noting that "despite the gravity of the situation, the civil defense teams managed to rescue more than (45) people who were trapped inside the building, with heroic effort and high dedication."
It emphasized that "the ministry will not hesitate to hold accountable any party found to be negligent or responsible, in adherence to the principles of rights and justice, and in order to ensure the safety of citizens," pointing out that "the results of the comprehensive technical investigations will be announced as soon as they are completed, in commitment to the principle of full transparency before public opinion."
