تتعرض إسبانيا لفيضانات شديدة وعواصف رعدية اجتاحت وجهاتها السياحية الشهيرة، في الوقت الذي تستمتع فيه بريطانيا بأشعة الشمس الحارقة وسط موجة حر جديدة.
وأصدرت وكالة الأرصاد الجوية الإسبانية (AEMET) تحذيرات جوية لنصف مقاطعات البلاد البالغ عددها 50 مقاطعة خلال هذا الأسبوع.
وأظهرت لقطات صادمة نُشرت على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي شوارع إسبانية خلابة تحولت إلى أنهار من الوحل، حيث جرفت مياه الفيضانات المتاجر والمطاعم.
وفي مقطع فيديو مروع، شوهدت السيارات وهي تجرفها مياه نهر إل كاردينر، بينما غُمرت سيارات أخرى بالطين والحطام.
تأتي هذه الأحوال الجوية القاسية بالتزامن مع موجة حر شديدة تضرب أوروبا، ناتجة عن ظاهرة «القبة الحرارية»، حيث وصلت درجات الحرارة في بعض المناطق إلى 42 درجة مئوية.
وتشهد مناطق مثل هويسكا، تيرويل، سرقسطة، برشلونة، جيرونا، لييدا، تاراغونا، وكاستيون أمطاراً غزيرة تسببت في أضرار جسيمة للأحياء السكنية، وتعطيل خطط السياح البريطانيين الذين توافدوا إلى إسبانيا بحثاً عن الشمس.
وفي بلدة تارازونا السياحية بمقاطعة سرقسطة، هطلت أمطار تجاوزت 100 ملم في ساعة واحدة يوم الجمعة، مما تسبب في فيضانات الشوارع، وتعطيل وسائل النقل العام، وأضرار بالغة في الممتلكات.
ونشرت وحدة الطوارئ العسكرية الإسبانية (UME) قواتها في مقاطعة سرقسطة لتقديم المساعدة، حيث تُعد هذه الوحدة مسؤولة عن الإغاثة في الكوارث الوطنية.
وتوقعت الأرصاد هطول أمطار تصل إلى 50 لتراً لكل متر مربع في معظم أنحاء أراغون وكتالونيا، مما قد يؤدي إلى فيضانات وتدفق السيول في الوديان.
وأصدرت هيئة الأرصاد الجوية الكتالونية (Meteocat) تحذيراً من المستوى الخامس والسادس، وهو أعلى مستويات التحذير، مما يعكس تدهوراً خطيراً في الأحوال الجوية، ليحل محل التحذيرات البرتقالية والصفراء السابقة، وفقاً لتقارير «كتالان نيوز».
