في واقعة مأساوية، لقيت امرأة مصرعها اختناقاً بعد أن علقت في صندوق تبرعات خيرية أثناء محاولتها سحب ملابس منه في بلانتيشن، فلوريدا.
ووفقاً لصحيفة «Mail online»، تم العثور على المرأة، التي كانت مشردة، عالقة، نصفها داخل صندوق التبرعات الوردي في شارع ويست فيدريتد، حيث اكتشفتها موظفة في مركز تعليم الأطفال القريب أثناء وصولها للعمل، واتصلت فوراً بخدمات الطوارئ، لكن المرأة كانت قد فارقت الحياة عند وصول الشرطة.
وأفادت شرطة بلانتيشن أن المرأة كانت تحاول سحب ملابس وأحذية من الصندوق عندما سقطت داخله واختنقت.
وأوضحت الشرطة أن الحادثة تبدو حتى الآن مجرد حادثة عرضية، لكن مكتب التحقيقات يجري تحقيقاً شاملاً للوقوف على ملابسات الواقعة، ولا تزال السلطات تحاول تحديد هوية المرأة والتواصل مع أقربائها، وسيحدد الطبيب الشرعي السبب الدقيق للوفاة.
وتشهد الولايات المتحدة وكندا سنوياً وفيات قليلة ناتجة عن حوادث مشابهة في صناديق التبرعات الخيرية، حيث سجلت أكثر من 20 حالة وفاة بين عامي 2007 و2019.
وتُصمم هذه الصناديق بفتحة أمامية تُغلق ذاتياً لأغراض الأمان وسهولة الاستخدام، لكن الأشخاص قد يعلقون أثناء محاولتهم سحب ملابس أو استرجاع أغراض سقطت عن طريق الخطأ أثناء التبرع.
وفي بعض الحالات، يلجأ مشردون إلى الصناديق للاحتماء، لكنهم يجدون أنفسهم عالقين دون قدرة على الخروج.
وعادةً ما يحدث الموت نتيجة الاختناق بسبب نفاد الهواء داخل الصندوق أو الضغط على الصدر عندما يعلق الشخص نصفياً، كما يمكن أن يؤدي التعلق رأساً على عقب إلى السكتة الدماغية بسبب تجمع الدم في الرأس، أو إلى نوبة قلبية.
In a tragic incident, a woman died of asphyxiation after getting stuck in a charity donation box while trying to pull clothes from it in Plantation, Florida.
According to the Mail online, the woman, who was homeless, was found trapped, half inside the pink donation box on West Fedrited Street, where she was discovered by an employee at a nearby children's education center as she arrived for work. She immediately called emergency services, but the woman had already passed away by the time the police arrived.
Plantation police reported that the woman was trying to pull clothes and shoes from the box when she fell inside and suffocated.
The police clarified that the incident currently appears to be an accident, but the investigation office is conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances of the event. Authorities are still trying to identify the woman and contact her relatives, and the medical examiner will determine the exact cause of death.
