شهدت العاصمة بانغي في جمهورية أفريقيا الوسطى مأساة مروعة أمس (الأربعاء)، بعدما توفي 29 طالباً وأصيب أكثر من 260 آخرين جراء تدافع جماعي ناجم عن انفجار محول كهربائي في مدرسة «بارتيليمي بوغاندا» الثانوية أثناء إجراء امتحانات الشهادة الثانوية.
وأفادت وزارة الصحة في جمهورية أفريقيا الوسطى، في وثيقة رسمية تم تداولها على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، بأن الحادث وقع نحو الساعة الواحدة ظهراً بالتوقيت المحلي أثناء أعمال إصلاح المحول الكهربائي داخل المدرسة.
وكانت المدرسة، التي تضم أكثر من 5300 طالب يؤدون اختباراتهم في اليوم الثاني من امتحانات البكالوريا، مسرحاً لحالة ذعر عارمة إثر الانفجار، مما أدى إلى تدافع قاتل بين الطلاب الذين حاولوا الفرار من الموقع.
وأوضح مدير مستشفى بانغي المجتمعي أبيل أساي، بأن الحصيلة تشمل 29 قتيلاً وأكثر من 280 مصاباً، بعضهم في حالة حرجة، في حين أشار وزير التعليم الوطني، أوريليان سيمبليس زينغاس، إلى أن الانفجار وقع نتيجة «إخفاقات فنية» أثناء أعمال إصلاح المحول الكهربائي في الطابق الأرضي من المبنى الرئيسي للمدرسة، مما تسبب في حالة من الفوضى.
وأعربت السلطات عن أسفها العميق، معلنة فتح تحقيق عاجل للوقوف على أسباب الحادث وتحديد المسؤوليات، وتعهدت الحكومة بتقديم الدعم لأسر الضحايا وتغطية تكاليف علاج المصابين، فيما دعت منظمات دولية إلى تقديم مساعدات عاجلة لتعزيز البنية التحتية التعليمية في البلاد.
The capital Bangui in the Central African Republic witnessed a horrific tragedy yesterday (Wednesday), as 29 students died and more than 260 others were injured due to a stampede caused by an explosion of an electrical transformer at the "Barthelemy Boganda" secondary school during the high school certificate examinations.
The Ministry of Health in the Central African Republic reported in an official document circulated on social media that the incident occurred around 1 PM local time during repair work on the electrical transformer inside the school.
The school, which has more than 5,300 students taking their tests on the second day of the baccalaureate exams, was the scene of widespread panic following the explosion, leading to a deadly stampede among students trying to flee the site.
Abel Asai, the director of Bangui Community Hospital, clarified that the toll includes 29 dead and more than 280 injured, some in critical condition, while the Minister of National Education, Aurelien Simblice Zingas, indicated that the explosion occurred due to "technical failures" during the repair work on the electrical transformer on the ground floor of the main school building, causing chaos.
The authorities expressed their deep sorrow, announcing the opening of an urgent investigation to determine the causes of the incident and assign responsibilities. The government pledged to provide support to the victims' families and cover the medical expenses of the injured, while international organizations called for urgent assistance to strengthen the educational infrastructure in the country.
