ضرب زلزال بلغت قوته 6.1 درجة على مقياس ريختر، أمس (الأحد)، مدينة كاياو الساحلية في جمهورية البيرو، ما أدى إلى انزلاقات في التربة بعدة مناطق مجاورة للعاصمة ليما، بحسب ما أفاد المركز الوطني لرصد الزلازل في البلاد.
وأسفر الزلزال عن مقتل شخص في ليما وتسبب في انزلاقات تربة، بحسب السلطات.
وأفاد المركز الوطني لرصد الزلازل في بيرو بأن مركز الزلزال وقع عند الساعة 11:35 صباحاً بالتوقيت المحلي، على بُعد نحو 30 كيلومتراً جنوب غرب «كاياو».
تقع مدينة «كاياو»، على الساحل على بعد 10 كيلومترات من ليما.
وأعلنت الشرطة أن رجلاً يبلغ 36 عاماً قُتل عندما سقط جدار على السيارة التي كان يستقلها في حي «إنديبندنثيا» في العاصمة.
وقالت الرئيسة دينا بولوارتي «أدعو السكان إلى التزام الهدوء»، مذكّرة بأنه لم يصدر أي تحذير من احتمال وقوع تسونامي.
وأظهر مقطع فيديو، بثته محطة «لاتينا» التلفزيونية، انزلاقات تربة في مناطق مختلفة في منطقة ليما.
وقال رئيس المعهد الجيوفيزيائي في البيرو هيرناندو تافيرا لمحطة «كانال إن»: «كانت الهزات الارتدادية الأقوى في ليما وكاياو».
تقع البيرو (يبلغ تعدادها نحو 33 مليون نسمة) ضمن «حزام النار» في المحيط الهادئ، وهي منطقة شاسعة ذات نشاط زلزالي كثيف تمتد على طول الساحل الغربي للأمريكتين.

President Dina Boluarte stated, "I urge residents to remain calm," reminding them that no tsunami warning had been issued.
A video broadcast by the "Latina" television station showed landslides in various areas of the Lima region.
Hernando Tavera, the head of the Geophysical Institute of Peru, told "Canal N": "The strongest aftershocks were in Lima and Callao."
Peru (with a population of about 33 million) is located within the "Ring of Fire" in the Pacific, a vast area with intense seismic activity that stretches along the western coast of the Americas.
