في عملية سطو جريئة تشبه أفلام هوليوود، اقتحم ثلاثة لصوص متجر «Dress Cheshire» الفاخر لبيع الحقائب في قرية بريستبري الراقية بمقاطعة تشيشاير البريطانية، بأسلوب غير تقليدي، إذ قاموا بحفر فتحة في جدار المبنى المجاور المهجور، وتسلقوا عبر مدخنة المتجر للوصول إلى الداخل، ليسرقوا 25 حقيبة يد فاخرة من ماركات عالمية بقيمة إجمالية تقدر بنحو 250 ألف جنيه إسترليني.
ووفقاً لشرطة تشيشاير، بدأت العملية نحو الساعة 10:30 مساءً، عندما دخل اللصوص مبنى مهجوراً مجاوراً للمتجر في شارع نيو رود، واستغرقوا أكثر من ساعة لحفر فتحة بعرض متر ونصف المتر في الجدار، مستخدمين أدوات حفر ثقيلة، قبل أن يتسللوا عبر المدخنة إلى داخل المتجر.
وبحسب كاميرات المراقبة، استخدم أحد اللصوص غطاء سرير كحقيبة لجمع الحقائب الفاخرة.
وشاهدت صاحبة المتجر، كريستين كولبيرت (58 عاماً) السرقة مباشرة عبر كاميرات المراقبة، وأعربت عن صدمتها ودموعها، قائلة: «لقد سرقوا حقائبنا الجميلة بقيمة ربع مليون جنيه، أنا مدمرة تماماً». وأضافت أن المتجر تعرض للسرقة للمرة الثانية خلال عام، إذ سُرقت حقائب بقيمة 180 ألف جنيه إسترليني في العام الماضي، مما دفعها لتعزيز الإجراءات الأمنية، لكن اللصوص تمكنوا من استغلال نقطة ضعف في المدخنة.
شرطة تشيشاير، بقيادة المحققة كلير سلاتري من وحدة مكافحة الجريمة في ماكليسفيلد، أطلقت تحقيقاً مكثفاً لتعقب اللصوص والحقائب المسروقة، ودعت الشرطة الشهود أو أي شخص لديه لقطات من كاميرات المراقبة أو السيارات إلى الإبلاغ، مشيرة إلى أن الحقائب قد تُباع الآن في السوق السوداء.

In a bold robbery reminiscent of Hollywood movies, three thieves broke into the luxury handbag store "Dress Cheshire" in the upscale village of Prestbury in Cheshire, England, using an unconventional method. They dug a hole in the wall of the adjacent abandoned building and climbed through the store's chimney to get inside, stealing 25 luxury handbags from global brands with a total value estimated at around £250,000.
According to Cheshire Police, the operation began around 10:30 PM when the thieves entered an abandoned building next to the store on New Road. They took over an hour to dig a hole 1.5 meters wide in the wall using heavy drilling tools before sneaking through the chimney into the store.
According to surveillance cameras, one of the thieves used a bed cover as a bag to collect the luxury handbags.
The store owner, Christine Colbert (58), watched the robbery live through the surveillance cameras and expressed her shock and tears, saying: "They stole our beautiful bags worth a quarter of a million pounds; I am completely devastated." She added that the store had been robbed for the second time in a year, with bags worth £180,000 stolen last year, prompting her to enhance security measures, but the thieves managed to exploit a weakness in the chimney.
Cheshire Police, led by Detective Claire Slattery from the Macclesfield Crime Unit, launched an intensive investigation to track down the thieves and the stolen bags, urging witnesses or anyone with footage from surveillance cameras or vehicles to report, noting that the bags may now be sold on the black market.
Colbert expressed her deep sadness on social media, explaining that the robbery was "carefully planned and organized," and that she received widespread support from customers and the local community, with one customer writing: "We are very sorry, Christine; we send you love and support." Another added: "Thank God you and the staff are safe."
The village of Prestbury is located within the "Golden Triangle" of Cheshire, which also includes Wilmslow and Alderley Edge, an area known for attracting the wealthy and celebrities, including football players like Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish, and former stars like Wayne Rooney and David Beckham. This area has become a recurring target for organized theft gangs, including international gangs from South America, due to the abundance of luxury homes and stores selling expensive items such as handbags and jewelry.
In March 2025, Alderley Edge witnessed another theft of over 100 luxury handbags worth a million pounds from a private home, indicating a rise in organized gang activities in the area. Previous thefts have targeted the homes of celebrities, such as former Manchester United player Tomasz Kuszczak, where jewelry and watches worth £170,000 were stolen in 2019. Reports indicate that "criminal tourism" gangs from countries like Chile are targeting these areas due to the high value of stolen goods and the ease of selling them in black markets.
