رغم تخلي الأمير هاري، وميغان ماركل عن أدوارهما الملكية، فإنهما -بحسب مصادر مقربة- لا يرغبان في حرمان طفليهما، آرتشي وليليبت، من خيار دعم العائلة المالكة مستقبلًا.
ويأمل الزوجان، وفقا لصحيفة «ميرور»، أن يحتفظ الأبناء بألقابهم الملكية، ليكون القرار بأيديهم عند بلوغهم.
وعلمت صحيفة الغارديان أن هاري يريد الاحتفاظ بألقاب صاحب السمو الملكي لأطفاله حتى يتمكنوا عندما يكبرون من اتخاذ القرار بأنفسهم ما إذا كانوا يريدون أن يصبحوا أفرادًا عاملين في العائلة المالكة، أو البقاء خارج الحياة العامة.
وبحسب التقارير، عبّر دوق ودوقة ساسكس عن استيائهما من تأخير وصول جوازات سفر أطفالهما، ويعتقدان أن السبب قد يكون استخدام الألقاب الملكية في الطلبات.
يذكر أن الأمير هاري وزوجته ميغان ماركل استقالا بشكل مثير من واجباتهما الملكية وغادرا المملكة المتحدة عام 2020، واستقرا في ولاية كاليفورنيا الأمريكية، بحماية خاصة في الولايات المتحدة.
