في مؤتمر المنظمة الأوروبية للسكتة الدماغية (ESOC) 2025، الذي عُقد في هلسنكي، قدم باحثون من جامعة إسطنبول نتائج دراسة حديثة تشير إلى أن استخدام حبوب منع الحمل الفموية المركبة قد يرتبط بزيادة خطر الإصابة بالسكتة الدماغية الإقفارية غير المفسرة (CIS) بثلاثة أضعاف لدى النساء الشابات.
الدراسة، المعروفة باسم SECRETO، شملت 268 امرأة تتراوح أعمارهن بين 18 و49 عاماً تعرضن لسكتات دماغية غير مفسرة، وقورنت حالاتهن بـ268 امرأة من الفئة العمرية نفسها لم يُصبن بسكتات. من بين النساء المصابات كانت 66 منهن يستخدمن حبوب منع الحمل المركبة، مقارنة بـ38 امرأة في المجموعة الضابطة.
حتى بعد ضبط عوامل الخطر التقليدية مثل ارتفاع ضغط الدم والتدخين والصداع النصفي والسمنة، أظهرت النتائج أن استخدام حبوب منع الحمل المركبة لا يزال مرتبطاً بزيادة ملحوظة في خطر الإصابة بالسكتة الدماغية.
معظم المشاركات كنّ يستخدمن أدوية تحتوي على مادة إيثينيل إستراديول بجرعة 20 ميكروغراماً، إضافة إلى أنواع أخرى من هرمون الإستروجين.
يُشير الباحثون إلى أن هذه العلاقة قد تعود إلى عوامل وراثية أو آليات داخلية لم تُكتشف بعد. ويؤكدون على أهمية تقييم الحالة الصحية لكل امرأة بشكل فردي قبل وصف حبوب منع الحمل المركبة، خصوصاً للنساء اللواتي لديهن تاريخ طبي مع السكتات أو أمراض الأوعية الدموية.
هذه النتائج تسلط الضوء على ضرورة إجراء تقييم دقيق للمخاطر الوعائية عند وصف وسائل منع الحمل الهرمونية للنساء الشابات.

At the European Stroke Organization Conference (ESOC) 2025, held in Helsinki, researchers from Istanbul University presented the results of a recent study indicating that the use of combined oral contraceptive pills may be associated with a threefold increase in the risk of unexplained ischemic stroke (CIS) among young women.
The study, known as SECRETO, included 268 women aged 18 to 49 who experienced unexplained strokes, and their cases were compared to 268 women of the same age group who did not suffer strokes. Among the affected women, 66 were using combined contraceptive pills, compared to 38 women in the control group.
Even after adjusting for traditional risk factors such as high blood pressure, smoking, migraines, and obesity, the results showed that the use of combined contraceptive pills was still associated with a significant increase in the risk of stroke.
Most participants were using medications containing 20 micrograms of ethinyl estradiol, in addition to other types of estrogen.
The researchers point out that this relationship may be due to genetic factors or internal mechanisms that have yet to be discovered. They emphasize the importance of assessing each woman's health status individually before prescribing combined contraceptive pills, especially for women with a medical history of strokes or vascular diseases.
These findings highlight the necessity of conducting a thorough vascular risk assessment when prescribing hormonal contraceptives to young women.
