أكدت البرازيل، أكبر دولة مُصدرة للدجاج في العالم، أول تفشٍ لإنفلونزا الطيور في مزرعة دواجن، ما أدى إلى فرض بروتوكولات حظر تجاري على مستوى البلاد بالكامل من الصين، وهي أكبر المشترين، وبروتوكولات حظر على مستوى الولايات من مشترين آخرين.
وأوضح وزير الزراعة البرازيلي كارلوس فافارو أنه بموجب البروتوكولات القائمة ستحظر دول من بينها الصين والاتحاد الأوروبي وكوريا الجنوبية واردات الدواجن من البرازيل لمدة 60 يوماً.
وقالت الأرجنتين إنها ستعلق وارداتها من منتجات الدواجن البرازيلية جميعها إلى أن يتبين خلو جارتها من إنفلونزا الطيور.
وأضاف فافارو أن البروتوكولات المعدلة في الآونة الأخيرة مع مشترين رئيسيين، مثل اليابان والإمارات والسعودية، تنص على فرض قيود على الشحنات من الولاية المصابة فقط، وفي نهاية المطاف البلدية المعنية فقط.
ولفتت وزارة الزراعة إلى أن تفشي المرض حدث في مدينة مونتينيغرو في ولاية ريو غراندي دو سول في أقصى جنوب البرازيل.
وصدرت البرازيل في 2024 لحوم دجاج بقيمة 10 مليارات دولار تقريباً، وهو ما يمثل نحو 35% من التجارة العالمية.
Brazil, the largest chicken exporter in the world, confirmed the first outbreak of avian influenza in a poultry farm, leading to nationwide trade bans from China, the largest buyer, and state-level bans from other buyers.
Brazilian Agriculture Minister Carlos Favaro explained that under the existing protocols, countries including China, the European Union, and South Korea will ban poultry imports from Brazil for 60 days.
Argentina stated that it will suspend all imports of Brazilian poultry products until it is confirmed that its neighbor is free from avian influenza.
Favaro added that recently amended protocols with key buyers, such as Japan, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, stipulate that restrictions will apply only to shipments from the affected state, and eventually only from the specific municipality involved.
The Ministry of Agriculture pointed out that the outbreak occurred in the city of Montenegro in the state of Rio Grande do Sul in the far south of Brazil.
In 2024, Brazil exported chicken meat worth approximately $10 billion, representing about 35% of global trade.
