وأشار موقع «ميتا» إلى أن التحديث سيجعل «إنستغرام» أكثر أماناً افتراضيّاً للمراهقين. وعلى الرغم من أن هذا الأمر تم اعتماده سابقاً، إلا أن هناك بعض التغييرات العملية الجديرة بالملاحظة.
لا رسائل من الغرباء
إذا كنت دون سن 18 عاماً ولا تتابع شخصاً ما، فلن يتمكن هذا الشخص من إرسال رسالة إليك، حتى لو كان حسابك للبالغين.
ويشمل ذلك المستخدمين العاديين والعلامات التجارية والمؤثرين وأي شخص خارج دائرتك الحالية. في السابق، كان بإمكان المستخدمين تلقي رسالة مباشرة واحدة من غرباء دون صور أو مقاطع فيديو.
سيتم حظر ذلك تماماً ما لم يتابع كلا الطرفين بعضهما بعضاً. والفكرة من هذا الإجراء، بحسب «إنستغرام»، بسيطة، وهي رسائل مزعجة أقل، مخاطر أقل، وتفاعلات محرجة أقل.

هذا ليس تحديثاً عشوائيّاً من «إنستغرام». فشركة «ميتا» المالكة للمنصة، إلى جانب شركات تقنية عملاقة أخرى، تتعرض لضغوط متزايدة من المشرّعين حول العالم لجعل منصاتها أكثر أماناً للأطفال والمراهقين.
وقد كانت الصحة النفسية للمراهقين، والرسائل الاستغلالية، بمثابة مؤشرات تحذيرية متكررة. وتعد هذه التغييرات بمثابة وسيلة «ميتا» للتأكيد على أنها تعمل على حل هذه المشكلة قبل أن تتخذ الجهات التنظيمية إجراءات أكثر صرامة.

Instagram is launching more protective measures for teenagers, and this time it is focusing heavily on preventing annoying direct messages and unwanted interactions.
Meta's website indicated that the update will make Instagram more secure by default for teenagers. Although this has been adopted previously, there are some noteworthy practical changes.
No messages from strangers
If you are under 18 and do not follow someone, that person will not be able to send you a message, even if your account is set to adult.
This includes regular users, brands, influencers, and anyone outside your current circle. Previously, users could receive one direct message from strangers without images or videos.
This will be completely blocked unless both parties follow each other. The idea behind this measure, according to Instagram, is simple: fewer annoying messages, less risk, and fewer awkward interactions.
New messaging rules
If you are an adult trying to message a teenager on Instagram, the platform now checks if you are on the allowed list, and your message will not be delivered unless you are followed back.
If your account displays potentially suspicious behavior according to Instagram's policy, your access to messaging teenagers will be completely cut off. This applies more strictly if you have been reported previously.
Tighter privacy
Instagram has long enforced private accounts as a default setting for new teenage accounts, and now it is going further by regularly prompting teenagers to review their privacy settings, sending notifications if the platform finds that the teenager's settings make them more vulnerable.
Under scrutiny
This is not a random update from Instagram. The platform's parent company, Meta, along with other tech giants, is under increasing pressure from lawmakers around the world to make their platforms safer for children and teenagers.
The mental health of teenagers and exploitative messaging have been recurring warning signs. These changes serve as Meta's way of emphasizing that it is working to address this issue before regulators take more stringent action.
So if you are a parent with a teenager who uses Instagram daily, these changes reduce the risks associated with unsafe interactions by limiting communication between teenagers and known followers, decreasing unwanted messages, making the app safer and less chaotic.
