The German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer entered the history of the World Cup in grand style, becoming the most capped goalkeeper in World Cup matches with a total of 21 matches, surpassing the previous record held by the Frenchman Hugo Lloris (20 matches).
Neuer achieved this milestone during the match between Germany and Ivory Coast in the second round of the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, after he had equaled Lloris's record in the opening match against Curaçao.
The veteran goalkeeper, who is 40 years old, is making his fifth World Cup appearance, having previously played in the 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 editions, continuing to solidify his status as one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of the tournament.
