في الوقت الذي يحتفل السوريون بسقوط النظام السابق، والفلسطينيون بوقف الحرب على غزة، خطف منتخبا سورية وفلسطين الشقيقان بطاقتَي التأهل إلى دور ربع النهائي لكأس العرب فيفا قطر 2025، بعد تعادلهما السلبي في مواجهة الجولة الثالثة للمجموعة الأولى، لينهي المنتخبان حسابات التأهل عن المجموعة، رغم فوز تونس على المستضيف قطر بثلاثة أهداف دون رد، ليتعادل المنتخبان الفلسطيني والسوري بـ5 نقاط لكل منهما محتلين المركزين الأول والثاني، فيما جاء المنتخب التونسي ثالثاً بـ4 نقاط، ومن ثم قطر رابعاً بنقطة واحدة.
على استاد المدينة التعليمية، اكتفى منتخبا فلسطين وسورية بالتعادل دون أهداف بعد مباراة متوسطة المستوى من المنتخبين، ليحصد كل منهما نقطة واحدة، ويصل المنتخب الفلسطيني للنقطة الخامسة متصدراً المجموعة الأولى بفارق الأهداف عن المنتخب السوري الذي حل ثانياً.
وعلى استاد البيت، تفوق منتخب تونس على قطر بثلاثة أهداف دون مقابل، تناوب على تسجيلها محمد بن رمضان (د:16) وياسين مرياح (د:62) ومحمد بن علي (د:90+4)، وشهد اللقاء حصول لاعب تونس سيف الدين الجزيري على البطاقة الحمراء في الدقيقة 65 من عمر اللقاء،
ليحقق منتخب تونس فوزه الوحيد في البطولة ويصل للنقطة الرابعة في المركز الثالث، فيما تلقى منتخب قطر الخسارة الثانية وتجمد رصيده عند نقطة واحدة في المركز الرابع (الأخير) ليغادر البطولة برفقة منتخب تونس، فيما تأهل بجدارة واستحقاق منتخب فلسطين برفقة سورية لدور الثمانية.
