ووفقاً للمقطع المتداول، ظهر رونالدو وهو يردد عبارة بالبرتغالية: «Vai marcar, vai marcar»، التي تعني بالعربية «ستُسجل، ستُسجل»، في محاولة لتعزيز تركيزه وثقته قبل تسديد الركلة، التي انتهت باصطدام الكرة بحائط الصد.
