Dr. Muhammad Ijaz Barasha, a psychiatric consultant, confirmed that the phase the Al-Ittihad Club is going through after the dismissal of its coach, Laurent Blanc, at a sensitive time requires a high degree of focus on the psychological stability of the players. He explained that any instability in the coaching staff inevitably reflects on the team's focus and performance on the field. He stated that a player needs to feel that there is a clear plan and a stable strategy, and when this sense is absent, their performance becomes susceptible to fluctuations, regardless of their skills.
He added that the recent defeat of Al-Ittihad against Al-Nassr should be viewed as lessons that can be built upon, not as an obstacle that is difficult to overcome. Addressing mistakes requires a combination of realism and calmness, away from individual blame. He emphasized the importance of boosting morale, transforming frustration into motivation, relying on the leaders within the team to restore collective spirit, and enhancing discipline while clearly distributing roles.
Regarding the reaction of the Al-Ittihad fans, Barasha said:
It is natural to see Al-Ittihad fans today wishing for at least a draw instead of enduring the bitterness of defeats. This reflects their concern and jealousy for the club's reputation and history. However, players should know that their fans are still behind them, and these feelings are temporary. They will turn into multiplied support as soon as the team regains its victories.
Barasha stressed that Al-Ittihad now needs clear steps to regain its confidence and balance, which include:
⁃ A stable coaching leadership capable of calming spirits and redefining the strategy.
⁃ Strong psychological preparation to restore confidence to the players after each match, even in the event of poor results.
⁃ Organized administrative work that protects the team from media and fan pressures.
⁃ Internal solidarity among players, as collective unity is the strongest weapon in times of crisis.
Barasha concluded his statement by emphasizing that the Al-Ittihad fans remain a safety valve in such circumstances. What is required from the fans at this stage is to continue their support, send positive messages to the players, and be patient during the transitional phase. Al-Ittihad is capable of returning to its natural position as a fierce competitor that does not know surrender, whenever positive atmospheres are available and all efforts are united.
