عانى الشباب الأمرّين بعد أن طُرد منه لاعبان، لكن الحارس البرازيلي مارسيلو غروهي حمل فريقه بيديه لدور الـ16، بعد أن تألق في ركلات الترجيح ليفوز الشباب على مضيفه أبها 4/ 2 بعد أن انتهت الأشواط الأصلية والإضافية بالتعادل 2/2، في اللقاء الذي أقيم بينهما على استاد مدينة الأمير سلطان بن عبدالعزيز بالمحالة، ضمن لقاءات دور الـ32 من كأس خادم الحرمين الشريفين.
أحرز هدفَي الشباب يانيك كاراسكو (د:13) وفنسنت سيرو (د:104)، فيما سجل هدفَي أبها أفونسو تايرا (د:24) ومورالها (د:94).
شهد اللقاء بداية قوية من الفريقين لاسيما من جانب الشباب، ومرر فيصل الصبياني الكرة للقائد كاراسكو الذي تلاعب بالدفاع وسددها قوية في المرمى هدفاً أول للشباب (د:13)، ليرد أبها بعد أن نفذ مورالها ركلة زاوية بإتقان لتتخطى دفاع الشباب ليغمزها أفونسو تايرا بقدمه داخل الشباك هدف تعادل لأبها (د:24)، وبعد خمس دقائق فقط منح حكم اللقاء عبدالله الحربي البطاقة الحمراء للاعب الشباب سعد بالعبيد لدخوله بتهور على لاعب أبها ياسر يعقوب (د:31)، وتألق حارس أبها عبدالله الجدعاني عندما واجه مهاجم الشباب همام الهمامي الذي سددها قوية وتمكن الجدعاني من التصدي لها على مرتين، وقبل نهاية الشوط الأول داس مدافع الشباب ويسلي هوديت على قدم لاعب أبها بدر المطيري ليمنحه الحكم البطاقة الحمراء المباشرة، ليكمل الشباب المباراة بـ9 لاعبين، ولم يشكل أي من الفريقين خطورة تذكر في الشوط الثاني ليحتكما لشوطين إضافيين بعد تعادلهما بهدف لكل منهما.
وتمكن البرازيلي غروهي من إنقاذ مرمى فريقه من هدف محقق بعد أن سدد بدر المطيري كرة نحو المرمى لترتطم في غروهي ومن ثم في العارضة، ومن تسديدة قوية من خارج منطقة الجزاء تمكن مورالها من تسجيل الهدف الثاني لأبها (د:97)، ورغم النقص والتأخر في النتيجة إلا أن كاراسكو ظهر مجدداً وبذل مجهوداً فردياً بتجاوز مدافعي أبها ولعبها عكسية لزميله فنسنت سيرو ليسددها قوية أرضية في المرمى هدف تعادل للشباب (د:104)، وفي الدقيقة الأخيرة من الشوط الثاني الإضافي حدثت أحداث مثيرة، إذ شن الشباب هجمة مرتدة وتمكن كاراسكو من إحراز هدف شبابي قاتل، لكن بعد العودة لتقنية الفيديو ألغى الحكم الهدف واحتسب ركلة حرة غير مباشرة للشباب داخل منطقة الجزاء الشبابية، لوجود خطأ على لاعب أبها الذي دفع لاعب الشباب ولامست الكرة يد المدافع، ليحتكم الفريقان لركلات الترجيح، وتمكن غروهي من التصدي لركلتين فيما تمكن الجدعاني من التصدي لركلة واحدة ليفوز الشباب 4/ 2 ويتأهل لدور الـ16، فيما غادر أبها المسابقة.

The youth suffered greatly after two players were sent off, but Brazilian goalkeeper Marcelo Grohe carried his team to the Round of 16, shining in the penalty shootout to lead Al-Shabab to victory over their hosts Abha 4-2 after the original and extra time ended in a 2-2 draw. The match took place at Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Stadium in Al-Mahala, as part of the Round of 32 of the King’s Cup.
Al-Shabab's goals were scored by Yannick Carrasco (13') and Vincent Siro (104'), while Abha's goals came from Afonso Teira (24') and Moraleha (94').
The match witnessed a strong start from both teams, especially from Al-Shabab. Faisal Al-Sabiani passed the ball to captain Carrasco, who skillfully maneuvered through the defense and struck a powerful shot into the net, scoring the first goal for Al-Shabab (13'). Abha responded when Moraleha executed a corner kick perfectly, allowing Afonso Teira to nudge the ball into the net with his foot, equalizing for Abha (24').
