ألمح الصحفي الأرجنتيني إستيبان إيدول، إلى أن الأسطورة ليونيل ميسي لن يستمر مع فريق إنتر ميامي الأمريكي، بعد توقف مفاوضات تجديد عقده الذي ينتهي في 31 ديسمبر 2025، ما يتيح له حرية التعاقد مع أي فريق مع افتتاح سوق الانتقالات. وقال إيدول لقناة ESPN الأمريكية: «النجم الأرجنتيني ميسي يفكر بجدية في الانتقال إلى دوري أكثر تنافسية قبل ستة أشهر من انطلاق كأس العالم 2026، التي ستقام في الولايات المتحدة وكندا والمكسيك، للوصول إلى المونديال بأفضل حالة بدنية وتقنية»، في إشارة واضحة لمنافسة البرتغالي كريستيانو رونالدو، وبالتحديد في الدوري السعودي، وعبر فريق منافس للنصر. وتابع إيدول: «المفاوضات بين إنتر ميامي وميسي حول تجديد العقد متوقفة، وهذا يعني عدم رغبته بالبقاء في الدوري الأمريكي، والانتقال لدوري يساعده على الحفاظ على مستواه قبل انطلاق مونديال 2026 الذي يتمنى فيه ميسي الحفاظ على اللقب العالمي، قبل اعتزاله اللعب دولياً، ليكرر ما حققه مع زملائه اللاعبين في قطر 2022». واستبعد إيدول عودة ميسي إلى النادي الكتالوني، في ظل استمرار خوان لابورتا رئيساً للنادي.
