رد لاعب نادي الهلال «جواو كانسيلو»، على منتقدي الدوري السعودي بقوله «هل عرفتم الآن قيمة الدوري السعودي والنجوم الذين يلعبون فيه»، جاء ذلك بعد تعادل فريقه أمام ريال مدريد الإسباني بنتيجة 1 ـ 1، في المباراة التي جمعتهما على ملعب «هارد روك» بمدينة ميامي الأمريكية، في إطار الجولة الأولى من المجموعة الثامنة لبطولة كأس العالم للأندية، وكان ريال مدريد البادئ بالتسجيل، حيث تقدم بهدف في الدقيقة 34 عبر لاعبه جونزالو جارسيا، ثم نجح الهلال في إدراك التعادل بهدف من ركلة جزاء سجّلها البرتغالي روبين نيفيز في الدقيقة 42.
وأضاف يقول: «كرة القدم السعوديه لا ينقصها شيء وقريبة جداً من أوروبا، وأنا لعبت في دوريات العالم وأعرف ماذا أقول»، وتابع يقول: «السعودية لديها مشروع كبير ولا يستهان، والدوري السعودي متطور ويضم لاعبين على مستوى عالي»، واختتم حديثه برسالته لجماهير نادي الهلال قائلاً:«أحبكم».
يذكر أن البطولة يشارك فيها 32 نادياً من بينها (12) من قارة أوروبا و(6) أندية من أمريكا الجنوبية و(4) أندية لكل من قارات أفريقيا، وآسيا، واتحاد أمريكا الشمالية والوسطى والكاريبي «كونكاكاف»، وممثل للبلد المضيف، وممثل لقارة أوقيانوسيا.
وتجري مباريات البطولة على (12) ملعباً في (11) مدينة أمريكية حتى الـ 13 من يوليو القادم بجوائز مالية تُعد الأكبر في تاريخ البطولة حسب إعلان سابق للاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم «فيفا».

The player of Al-Hilal, "João Cancelo," responded to critics of the Saudi league by saying, "Do you now understand the value of the Saudi league and the stars who play in it?" This came after his team's draw against Spanish club Real Madrid with a score of 1-1, in the match held at the "Hard Rock" stadium in Miami, USA, as part of the first round of Group Eight in the FIFA Club World Cup. Real Madrid was the first to score, taking the lead with a goal in the 34th minute by their player Gonzalo Garcia, then Al-Hilal managed to equalize with a penalty scored by Portuguese player Ruben Neves in the 42nd minute.
He added, "Saudi football lacks nothing and is very close to Europe, and I have played in leagues around the world and I know what I’m talking about." He continued, "Saudi Arabia has a big project that should not be underestimated, and the Saudi league is developing and includes players of a high level." He concluded his remarks with a message to Al-Hilal fans, saying, "I love you."
