مشوار جديد سيخوضه منتخبنا الوطني الأول لكرة القدم نحو التأهل لمونديال كأس العالم 2026 بعد خسارته من منتخب أستراليا بهدفين لهدف في اللقاء الذي جمع بينهما على استاد الإنماء بمدينة الملك عبدالله الرياضية بجدة في ختام لقاءات المجموعة الثالثة للدور الثالث للتصفيات الآسيوية المؤهلة لكاس العالم 2026.
وشهد اللقاء بداية جيدة للأخضر السعودي الذي سيطر على مجريات اللقاء وشن عدة هجمات، وتمكن اللاعب عبدالرحمن العبود من إحراز الهدف في وقت مبكر بعد أن راوغ القائد سالم الدوسري الدفاع الأسترالي ومررها للعبود الذي أسكنها في الشباك (د: 19)، وكاد منتخبنا الوطني أن يضاعف النتيجة بعد عرضية علي مجرشي ولكن مصعب الجوير سددها فوق العارضة، وفي الدقائق الأخيرة من الشوط الأول ومن أول هجمة حقيقية للمنتخب الأسترالي توغل كونور ميتكالفي بين الدفاع السعودي وسددها قوية في المرمى كهدف أول وتعادل لأستراليا (د: 42). ومن بداية الشوط الثاني شن منتخب أستراليا هجوماً مباغتاً وتصدى نواف العقيدي لانفرادة أستراليا الخطيرة ومن ركلة حرة نفذها بإتقان مارتن بويل وحولها ميتشل ديوك برأسه في المرمى كهدف ثانٍ لأستراليا (د: 48)، وقبل نهاية اللقاء تحصل منتخبنا الوطني على ركلة جزاء تقدم لها سالم الدوسري ولكن الحارس الأسترالي ماثيو رايان تصدى لها بنجاح، لينتهي اللقاء بفوز أستراليا بهدفين لهدف.
وبهذه النتيجة يحتل منتخبنا الوطني المركز الثالث في المجموعة الثالثة ويتأهل للدور الرابع برفقة منتخب إندونيسيا صاحب المركز الرابع، كما تأهل من المجموعة الأولى منتخبا الإمارات وقطر، فيما تأهل من المجموعة الثانية كل من العراق وعمان.

A new journey will be undertaken by our national football team towards qualifying for the 2026 World Cup after losing to the Australian team by two goals to one in the match held at the Al-Inma Stadium in King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, concluding the group stage of the third round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The match witnessed a good start for the Saudi Green, who controlled the course of the game and launched several attacks.
