انطلقت منافسات بطولة «نخبة كبار اليد» مساء الأربعاء، وشهدت الجولة الأولى مواجهتين حاسمتين، انتهت بانتصارين ثمينين لفريقي مضر والخليج، وذلك على صالة وزارة الرياضة بالدمام.
واستهل فريق الخليج مشواره بفوز صعب على الهدى بنتيجة (24 – 26)، في لقاءٍ اتسم بالندية والإثارة حتى اللحظات الأخيرة، ليحصد أول نقطتين له في البطولة.
وفي المباراة الثانية، فرض مضر هيمنته أمام نظيره الصفا، محققاً فوزاً كبيراً بنتيجة (23 – 41)، ليتصدر جدول الترتيب بفارق الأهداف، ويؤكد جاهزيته للمنافسة على اللقب.
وبهذه النتيجة، يتصدر مضر والخليج جدول الترتيب بعد نهاية اليوم الأول برصيد نقطتين لكل منهما، فيما بقي الهدى والصفا من دون نقاط.
