In Al-Bahah, when the Al-Ain fans couldn't find seats in the King Saud Sports City’s auxiliary stadium, they made the adjacent rocks their stands and watched their team face Arar yesterday (Monday) in the second division league, in a scene captured by a picture and told by a story of belonging.
Behind the fence, children sat next to adults, and fans spread out on the ground among the stones, searching for an angle to see their team. Along the rocky edge, a line of fans formed, dictated by the terrain, united by their love for Al-Ain.
Here, the connection between the club and its people is evident in simple details; a child watching the match next to adults, a fan leaning against the rocks, and another standing behind those sitting. Their locations differ, but their gazes are directed at the field itself.
The absence of seats did not prevent their attendance, but it raised a question that goes beyond the match's outcome: When will these fans find a prepared and safe place that befits their presence and loyalty?
The scene, with all its beauty of belonging, also reveals the difficulty of following the game. Those who came to support their regional representative deserve a stand that embraces them and allows both young and old to watch their team without sitting on a rocky edge.
The match between Al-Ain and Arar will end, but this moment will remain a testament to a day of football in Al-Bahah; a day when seats were absent, so the fans made a stand from the mountain and turned their presence into a story.
