أكد اللاعب الدولي السابق فهد الهريفي في حديثه لـ«عكاظ» أن خسارة الأهلي الثقيلة من الشباب بستة أهداف لهدف، ضمن لقاءات الجولة 12 لدوري روشن السعودي للمحترفين، تعود لعدة أسباب أهمها عدم وجود بديل للحارس السنغالي إدوارد ميندي بالإضافة للأخطاء الدفاعية المتكررة التي يعاني الفريق الأول لكرة القدم بالنادي الأهلي.
وأوضح الهريفي أن الأهلي يعاني من أخطاء دفاعية وصفها بـ«الكارثية»، تتكرر في العديد من المباريات، مشيراً إلى أن الحارس عبدالرحمن الصانبي يرتكب أخطاء مؤثرة تزيد من معاناة الفريق، في ظل عدم وجود حلول واضحة لمعالجة هذه المشكلات.
وتساءل الهريفي عن استمرار هذه الأخطاء دون معالجة، قائلاً: «إلى متى الأهلي بهذا الوضع؟ وإلى متى لا يجد بديلاً مناسباً لحارسه الأساسي إدوارد ميندي؟»، مؤكداً أهمية معالجة الخلل الدفاعي وتوفير البدائل القادرة على تقديم الإضافة المطلوبة.
وفي سياق متصل، تطرق الهريفي إلى غياب المهاجم الإنجليزي إيفان توني، الذي لم يشارك بسبب ظروف مرتبطة بوجوده في بريطانيا، متسائلاً عن مدى تأثر الأهلي هجومياً بغياب مهاجمه، وانعكاس ذلك على قدرة الفريق على استثمار الفرص وحسم المباريات.
وشدد الهريفي على ضرورة إيجاد حلول عاجلة للأخطاء الدفاعية ومشكلات حراسة المرمى، خصوصاً أن استمرارها قد يكلف الأهلي الكثير في مشواره بالمنافسات المحلية والقارية.

Al-Harifi explained that Al-Ahli is suffering from defensive mistakes that he described as "catastrophic," which are repeated in many matches, pointing out that goalkeeper Abdulrahman Al-Sanbi commits impactful errors that increase the team's suffering, amid the lack of clear solutions to address these problems.
He questioned the continuation of these mistakes without resolution, saying: "How long will Al-Ahli remain in this situation? And how long will they not find a suitable substitute for their main goalkeeper Edward Mendy?" emphasizing the importance of addressing the defensive flaws and providing alternatives capable of making the required contribution.
In a related context, Al-Harifi touched on the absence of English striker Ivan Toney, who did not participate due to circumstances related to his presence in Britain, questioning how much Al-Ahli is affected offensively by the absence of their striker, and the impact of that on the team's ability to capitalize on opportunities and secure victories.
Al-Harifi stressed the need to find urgent solutions to the defensive mistakes and goalkeeping issues, especially since their continuation could cost Al-Ahli a lot in their journey through local and continental competitions.
