Coaching the Al-Taawoun team, Vuk Razovic confirmed that facing the Qatari Al-Rayyan tomorrow in the second round of the AFC Champions League represents an opportunity for his team to regain confidence, emphasizing that the decline in results in the league has not diminished Al-Taawoun's ambitions in the continental tournament.
Razovic said during the press conference preceding the match: "We will face a good team, but we have great ambitions, whether from the players, the fans, or the club, and this gives us a strong motivation. We realize that we are not in our best form in terms of results in the league, but I want everyone to trust that we will give our best."
In response to a question from "Okaz" regarding the goals set by Al-Taawoun's management when contracting him, he clarified: "I will be frank; the goal is to find balance in the team and improve results. We are participating in three official tournaments, and we strive to achieve the best results in all of them."
The coach expressed his confidence in his players' ability to overcome the current phase, indicating that a positive result in one or two matches could completely change the team's situation. He added: "We talked to the players about this, and we are working daily on improving the defensive aspects. In the last match, we created many offensive opportunities, but we were not successful in capitalizing on them. I trust my team 100%, and the players are professionals capable of bouncing back."
Regarding the absence of striker Abderrazak Hamdallah, Razovic confirmed that his absence will be impactful, saying: "We will miss him in tomorrow's match due to suspension, but these are the rules, and it's out of our hands."
He sent a message to Al-Taawoun fans, stating: "I promise them that we will give our best, and we hope for their strong attendance; they represent the 12th player, and their support is important to us."
For his part, Al-Taawoun player Mutaab Al-Mufarij began his remarks by praying for God's protection over the Kingdom, wishing for security and safety, and for mercy on the deceased and healing for the injured, affirming that the players' focus is on securing all three points from the match.
Al-Mufarij said: "Al-Rayyan is a big club that we respect, but with the support of our fans, we are capable of achieving victory. We have gone through difficult circumstances in the past few days, and we are now looking ahead, with our ambition being to achieve results in all tournaments."
He emphasized that the identity and approach of the club do not change with the nationality of the coach, expressing his and his teammates' eagerness to improve with the new coaching staff, despite the short time they have spent with them.
Al-Mufarij admitted that the recent results have not been satisfactory, calling on the fans to support the team: "We need their presence and encouragement; they are an important factor in our return, and we promise them to deliver our best."
He concluded his remarks by affirming that Al-Taawoun's ambition goes beyond mere participation, saying: "We want to go far, and we aspire to win this tournament. We aim to perform well in the group stage and qualify, and God willing, we will reach advanced stages."
