The Egyptian star Mohamed Salah led Trabzonspor to a well-deserved victory over Samsunspor with a clean sheet of three goals, after assisting the third goal, achieving a feat that has been absent from his team for 36 years.
Trabzonspor achieved a historic record in the Turkish league, scoring three goals in the first half of two consecutive matches for the first time since 1990; according to the Turkish newspaper (61saat), following their victory over Samsunspor away in the seventh round of the competition.
The achievement came after the team thrashed Galatasaray with four unanswered goals in the previous round, before repeating their strong attacking start against Samsunspor, scoring their three goals before the end of the first half, continuing their impressive run under their German coach Thomas Reis.
Albanian Ernest Muçi opened the scoring for Trabzonspor in the 27th minute, before Chibuke Nwankwo added the second goal in the 38th minute, and then Frankolino Djo capped off the trio in the 40th minute, after capitalizing on a decisive pass from Mohamed Salah.
With this victory, Trabzonspor continued their strong results under Thomas Reis, having defeated Galatasaray with a clean four-goal sheet and then Samsunspor with three unanswered goals, scoring seven goals in the two matches without conceding.
The German coach also made a remarkable start with the team, as he became, according to the Turkish newspaper, the second foreign coach in Trabzonspor's history to win his first two matches in the league, after the Georgian Shota Arveladze.
Salah joined Trabzonspor last August, following the end of his nine-year career with Liverpool, to begin a new experience in the Turkish league.
Since his transfer, the Egyptian star has become one of the most followed names, amid hopes of continuing his attacking impact and helping his team compete strongly during the current season.
