The President of Al-Qadsia Club, Sheikh Mishal Talal Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, launched a scathing attack on the Kuwaiti sports scene following the exit of "Al-Azraq" from the Arabian Gulf Cup "Gulf 27," after losing to Iraq with a score of three goals to two. He rejected the association of the names of Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad and Sheikh Dr. Talal Al-Fahad with every sports failure.
Sheikh Mishal Al-Fahad confirmed, via his account on the "X" platform, that Ahmad Al-Fahad and Talal Al-Fahad do not hold any sports or political positions, and that they have distanced themselves from the scene for years. He considered that those who used to fight against them now have an open field, yet have not achieved - in his opinion - positive results that reflect on the reality of Kuwaiti sports.
Al-Fahad criticized attempts to bring back the "sports conflict" narrative to the forefront after every failure, indicating that mentioning the names of Ahmad and Talal Al-Fahad in current sports issues is unjustified given their absence from the scene.
He emphasized that since at least 2015, there has been no, as he described it, conflict in sports involving the sons of the martyr Fahad Al-Ahmad, directing his criticisms towards those who managed the scene over the past years.
He stated that the current "sports icons" were alone in the arena, and therefore, from his perspective, they bear the responsibility for the decline of sports, instead of bringing back names that have distanced themselves from the scene into the circle of controversy with every negative result.
Sheikh Mishal Al-Fahad's message came just hours after the Kuwaiti national team bid farewell to the "Gulf 27" competitions from the group stage, adding a new chapter of controversy regarding the responsibility for the decline of Kuwaiti football following "Al-Azraq's" failure in the Gulf tournament.
