The Italian League punished Juventus due to the behavior of some of its fans during a minute of silence for the late legend of Inter Milan and the Italian national team, Sandro Mazzola.
Shouts and Applause
Mazzola passed away last Saturday at the age of 83, and during the minute of silence that preceded the recent match between Juventus and Atalanta in the Italian league, shouts and applause were heard from a group of Juventus fans, while some fans turned their backs to the field.
10,000 Euro Fine
The league stated in a statement that it imposed a fine of 10,000 euros on Juventus for the failure of some of its fans to respect the minute of silence appropriately.
Juventus Accepts the Penalty
Juventus responded in a statement: “No competition can justify disrespect during a minute of silence; honoring the memory of those we commemorate and standing together in moments of remembrance is a shared responsibility that transcends loyalty and colors.”
