وجّه الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب رسالة شكر إلى الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم «فيفا»، بعد تعليق إيقاف مهاجم منتخب بلاده فولارين بالوغون قبل المواجهة الصعبة أمام بلجيكا، (الثلاثاء) القادم، ضمن منافسات دور الـ16 من بطولة كأس العالم 2026 المقامة في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكندا والمكسيك.
بطاقة حمراء.. وإيقاف تلقائي
وتلقى بالوغون، الذي يتصدر قائمة هدافي منتخب الولايات المتحدة في المونديال برصيد ثلاثة أهداف، بطاقة حمراء في المباراة الماضية، بسبب تدخل متهور على لاعب البوسنة والهرسك طارق محرموفيتش، وهي العقوبة التي تستوجب الإيقاف التلقائي لمباراة واحدة.
«فيفا» يعلّق تنفيذ العقوبة
وفاجأ «فيفا» الجميع بإعلان تعليق تنفيذ عقوبة إيقاف فولارين بالوغون لمدة عام واحد كفترة اختبار، وفي حال ارتكابه مخالفة أخرى مماثلة في طبيعتها وخطورتها خلال فترة الاختبار، يُلغى تعليق الإيقاف ويُنفذ الحكم، دون المساس بأي عقوبة إضافية تُفرض على المخالفة الجديدة.
رسالة شكر من ترمب
وكتب ترمب على منصته «تروث سوشيال»: «شكراً للاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا) على اتخاذ القرار الصائب وتصحيح ظلمٍ فادح!».
وبحسب تقارير صحفية، علم لاعبو المنتخب الأمريكي بالقرار عبر مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، وقال المدافع كريس ريتشاردز: «أعتقد أن الكثير منا ظن في البداية أنه خبر مولد بالذكاء الاصطناعي».
وقال النجم الأمريكي كريستيان بوليسيتش: «إذا نظرت إلى اللقطة، ستجد أنه لم تكن هناك أي نية على الإطلاق، شعرت أن أخطاءً أسوأ بكثير حدثت في هذه البطولة».
