رفضت اللجنة المنظمة لبطولة كأس العالم 2026 بالاتفاق المتبادل بينها وبين الاتحاد المكسيكي لكرة القدم، الساعات التي قام بإهداها نجم اليوتيوب الأمريكي ستيفن ديليوناردس للاعبين عقب فوزهم على منتخب الأكوادور.
وذكر عدد من وسائل الإعلام أن نجم اليوتيوب ستيفن راهن على فوز المكسيك بمبلغ مليوني دولار، وقام بإهداء اللاعبين والجهاز الفني ساعات فاخرة تصل قيمتها إلى مليون دولار.
على الصعيد ذاته أعلن المنتخب المكسيكي لكرة القدم، عبر حسابه على موقع (X) للتواصل الاجتماعي، أن مديره الفني خافيير أغيري، ولاعبي الفريق، أعادوا الساعات السويسرية الفاخرة.
وكشفت تقارير محلية أن ديليوناردس، المعروف باسم «ستيف ويل دو إت»، زار معسكر المنتخب المكسيكي جنوب العاصمة مكسيكو سيتي، فيما أوضحت صحيفة (ريكورد) أن اللاعبين أعربوا عن «دهشتهم وسعادتهم» بهذه الهدية.
وتردد أن ديليوناردس راهن بمليوني دولار على فوز منتخب المكسيك في مباراته ضد الإكوادور في دور الـ32 للمونديال، وهو ما تحقق بالفعل، وانتصر فريق أغيري بهدفين دون مقابل.
وسيواجه صاحب الأرض إنجلترا في دور الـ16 للبطولة على ملعب (أزتيكا).

Several media outlets reported that the YouTube star Stephen bet two million dollars on Mexico's victory and gifted the players and coaching staff luxury watches worth up to one million dollars.
In the same context, the Mexican national football team announced through its account on the social media platform (X) that its head coach Javier Aguirre and the players returned the luxury Swiss watches.
Local reports revealed that DeLeonardis, known as "Steve Will Do It," visited the Mexican national team's camp south of Mexico City, while the newspaper (Record) stated that the players expressed their "surprise and happiness" at this gift.
It was rumored that DeLeonardis bet two million dollars on the Mexican team's victory in their match against Ecuador in the Round of 32 of the World Cup, which indeed happened, with Aguirre's team winning by two goals to none.
The host will face England in the Round of 16 of the tournament at the (Azteca) Stadium.
