يخضع ريان مينديز، قائد منتخب الرأس الأخضر، لتحقيقات على خلفية ادعاء يتعلق باعتداء جنسي مزعوم على مترجمة كانت ضمن طاقم عمل المنتخب خلال فترة التوقف الدولي في مارس الماضي، وفقاً لما أورده موقع «غلوبو» البرازيلي.
وتأتي القضية بالتزامن مع الإنجاز التاريخي الذي حققه منتخب الرأس الأخضر في كأس العالم 2026، بعدما نجح في التأهل إلى الدور الثاني للمرة الأولى في تاريخه، عقب تعادله دون أهداف أمام المنتخب السعودي، ليحسم المركز الثاني في المجموعة خلف إسبانيا، ويضرب موعداً مع الأرجنتين في دور الـ32.
وأوضح التقرير أن مينديز، (36 عاماً)، يخضع للتحقيق من قبل السلطات النيوزيلندية بشأن شكوى تقدمت بها مترجمة برازيلية كانت تعمل مع المنتخب خلال وجوده في نيوزيلندا خلال مارس.
وبحسب «غلوبو»، فقد تقدمت المترجمة ببلاغ إلى الشرطة في اليوم ذاته الذي تقول إنه شهد الواقعة، كما قدمت صوراً وتقارير طبية تضمنت إصابات وكدمات، إلى جانب مستندات من جهة متخصصة في دعم الناجين من حالات العنف الجنسي.
وأشار الموقع إلى أن الشرطة النيوزيلندية قامت بجمع تسجيلات من كاميرات المراقبة في الفندق، فيما تنتظر استكمال الإجراءات والفحوصات اللازمة قبل اتخاذ أي قرار رسمي بشأن توجيه اتهامات.
وأضاف التقرير أن مراسل «غلوبو» تواصل مع مسؤولي اتحاد كرة القدم في الرأس الأخضر الموجودين في مدينة هيوستن الأمريكية عقب مواجهة السعودية، إلا أنهم رفضوا التعليق على القضية.
ولم يصدر حتى الآن أي تعليق رسمي من ريان مينديز أو الاتحاد الكروي في الرأس الأخضر بشأن التحقيقات الجارية.
Ryan Mendes, the captain of the Cape Verde national team, is under investigation following an allegation related to an alleged sexual assault on a translator who was part of the national team's staff during the international break last March, according to the Brazilian website "Globo."
The case comes in conjunction with the historic achievement of the Cape Verde national team in the 2026 World Cup, as they successfully qualified for the second round for the first time in their history, after drawing 0-0 against the Saudi national team, securing second place in the group behind Spain, and setting up a match against Argentina in the Round of 32.
The report clarified that Mendes, 36 years old, is being investigated by New Zealand authorities regarding a complaint filed by a Brazilian translator who worked with the team during their time in New Zealand in March.
According to "Globo," the translator filed a report with the police on the same day she claims the incident occurred, and she provided photos and medical reports that included injuries and bruises, along with documents from a specialized organization supporting survivors of sexual violence.
The website noted that the New Zealand police collected recordings from the hotel’s surveillance cameras, while awaiting the completion of necessary procedures and examinations before making any official decision regarding charges.
The report added that a "Globo" correspondent contacted officials from the Cape Verde Football Federation who were in Houston, USA, following the match against Saudi Arabia, but they declined to comment on the case.
No official comment has yet been issued by Ryan Mendes or the Cape Verde Football Federation regarding the ongoing investigations.
